It would serve him right to spend the rest of his life at the Moscow airport.

@evil eye @angilion

You're both right of course, i just get mad sometimes. I smell mccarthyism and it worries me. it's obvious our date is bieng mined, and that we are being spied on. there are also prisoner who have no charges laid against them, and have had no trails, there are people being extradited without due legal process. It's a thin line from being protected to being subjected. all it takes is the wrong person behind the controls. and lets face it, politicians arn't exactly trustworthy now are they?

I would grant him asylum and buy the man a beer. I don't agree with snitching, but the US government is acting like the enemy of the whole world, including its own people.

MrOrange: Pretty much every country is doing it. It's an obvious way to evade any restrictions on or scrutiny of mass spying on your own citizens. e.g. NSA mass spies on the people of the UK, GCHQ mass spies on the people of the USA and they exhange results. Voila! NSA and GCHQ are both doing mass spying on foreigners (which is allowed with little or no restrictions or oversight) but getting the results of mass spying on their own citizens (which is more of an issue).

I'd bet good money that agreements like that extend across numerous countries all over the place.

Is anyone else interpreting most of those replies the same way as I am - as politicians being very glad that they can avoid stating any position on the subject? He's not in our country, so we don't have to say anything about asylum.

We europeans are hypocrits.
Everybody knows we are being spied on by our friends (US, GB for sure, Germany and France probably too), and they are definitely not doing it for terrorists or only as a side effect: it's business espionage.
Now someone gives us proof, we are "angry" about the USA, but we will all refuse to help the whistle blower. Shame on us!!!
US will track him down like Bin Laden, we will be "shocked" and life will go on.

OOPS, a pro-Snowden comment...sorry, no more travel permit to USA for IlikeLogic...

@MrOrange: I am willing to bet that they was not the only ones. Also willing to bet we have our own communication spy system. Remember the riots and they said they couldn't track it because they used blackberries? Well... must mean we are tracked. We just don't really seem to care... I know I don't. My phonecalls are boring even to me.

poor basterd, he should be given assylum in every country in europe just for the fact that he pointed out that america doesn't give a f.u.c.k. about our laws and rights (not that i didn't know) and the hypocrisy of politicians. oh they were spying on us during the free trade talks? thats a breach of trust! Boil them in their own urine the bastards.

Am I the only one who thinks maybe he should go to Mongolia?

Doesn't sound too crazy. If they don't get any NATO dollars, then it's probably his best bet.

Am I the only one who thinks maybe he should go to Mongolia? Because seriously, it's not China or Russia. Granted things move a little slower there, the web service is not so great (and by that I mean it's nonexistent) and Kumis may be difficult to get used to, but life in a yurt can't be all bad.
