I'm kind of thinking they're working on this for medical reasons, and not cosmetic. I don't think there'll be a huge line of doctors willing to become cosmetic cadaver surgeons for people who want to have a nicer ass.

that would be ultimate vanity. you dont like the way you look, so you chop off your head to get a new look. and i thought aesthetic implants were extreme. however i feel technological and biological implants are awesome. if i ruled the world, everyone would have their left eye removed at birth (with their parents permission i guess) and replaced with the servo eye (my google glass eye thing) and all your personal information like your birth certificate and such would all be programmed into the servo eye. your identification would be your servo eye. like i had this idea for citizen identity cards, every citizen (except those who chose not to have one and live in like communes on the outskirts of cities) would have this card and all their personal information would be on it, it would be your birth certificate and drivers license all in one. then i decided the citizen id cards should just be an iphone type device, then that evolved into the servo eye.

It wasn't a head transplant, it was a face transplant. There is a huge difference. Do your research next time.

Yeah...let me know when they get the "reconnecting the spinal column" thing down and then the title will be more correct.

This really gives me the heebie jeebies. I can't help but see the images from those videos of the scientist who did those procedures on the dogs in my mind...so awful.

$$13 million$$ to live paralyzed, in pain, for a few days longer?

Erm, NTY! I'd rather get frozen... let someone else be the "test subjects" until it gets "perfected" 20+ years from now...

"Doctors Can Now Do Human Head Transplants"

Connection of a spinal cord from the head of one creature to the body of another has never been attempted even in animals, so Canavero's paper must be taken as an exercise in speculation.

Won't give you the brain, just his looks. So have fun with that!

Brain transplant would be more like a body transplant anyway... since you are your brain.
