*People ruin everything they touch.

Yeah, yeah, both sides do it. That's what liberals always say when their position is indefensible.

Hard call.. I THINK the school is trying to discourage similar acts by students in regards to the taking the gun away.

What if he lunges for the gun and it goes off hitting someone, which its almost amazing it didn't happen.

Assuming the kid isnt a trained martial combatant, its probably the safe (but septic) route to do this.

In the long run, this wont really hurt the kid (hell it made him even more famous), gets the school off the hook for trying to curb random acts of heroism by amateurs, and no real harm done.

Fixed it for you. I mean, seriously. If there's one thing we should be able to agree on, it's that being a jack-ass is a bi-partisan trait.

@HumanAction: Hugo Victor was born February 26, 1802 and died May 22, 1885. Yet it is a well known quote and he is frequently cited as in Wendell Willkie's speech, yet for some reason Churchill got all the credit. The construction of the quote is actually much older going back to Francois Guisot (1787-1874) he originally said "Not to be a republican at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head." But was then revived by Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929) who said "Not to be a socialist at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head." Many variations have come out after including Hugo's, yet Hugo's is the most quoted in modern times.

But no such quote is ever fully in context, the human race partitions politically into each individual, it is rather a fancy phrase for supporting or diminishing certain political tags.

"The victim himself, who wishes to remain anonymous, has confirmed that he would have been shot, had the weapon not been taken away from the assailant.

"Do you think he would have killed you?" he is asked by reporters. He responds with "Yeah." His account is backed up by witnesses at the scene.

The student has explained that he fears for his life in giving details about the incident.

School board member Don Armstrong claims that "if a student lies, there's got to be consequences."

"However, I know that he saved a student's life and he's a hero, period. That suspension needs to be expunged off his record," he adds."

"It only takes 20 years for a liberal to become a conservative without changing a single idea."

-Robert Anton Wilson

How long has Victor Hugo been dead? Any statement about liberal, conservative, Democrat or Republican from Hugo or Churchill is quite out of context in modern times.

@chalket: Authorities both confirmed there was a Revolver and it was loaded and that the suspect was pointing it at another student. Both he and the victim didn't want to be named in the news stories either for the same reason, they did want to be labeled a snitch. Who could blame him? A kid almost got shot for just arguing with someone else, if he was labeled a snitch, things could get real bad for him. Do you think the same for others who are fearful of being seen as a snitch, it happens a lot in rape cases, gang cases, mafia cases, and yea in school cases too. Are they all just a lot more sensational because they have a legitimate fear?

Also the referral said he was suspended for being part of an incident where a weapon was present. The school didn't write lying on it, they only added that as the reason later but still confirmed that the kid had saved a life.

Well, I'm pretty a liberal thinker but I do try to not be retarded about it. Maybe I'm not a Liberal. Maybe I should start a Reasonist movement for people who think with an element of reason. Anyway, it's hard to say the school did the wrong thing entirely, assuming that their claim that the students refused to co-operate is true. If no one told them this kid, who is clearly a hero, acted selflessly in a time of need then how were they to know, considering the security cameras weren't working. Of course, then you have to wonder if they wouldn't co-operate because they grew up distrustful or if the school administration taught them to be.

What exactly does "refused to cooperate with the investigation" mean?

The school says the kid was suspended because he was "uncooperative" and "lied repeatedly" to school officials and law enforcement. The kid admits withholding information, he even told them he "wasn't sure" if there was even a gun on the school bus. He says he didn't want to be seen as a "snitch."

It seems "HS Student Suspended For Disarming Gunman" is a lot more sensational than "HS Student Suspended For Lying".

@HumanAction:

"If a man is not a republican at twenty, it is because he has no heart, and if he is one at forty, it is because he has no brains."

@Gerry

Careful. Criticizing a conservative policy will get you accused of being stupid. Criticizing a liberal policy will get you accused of being evil.

Disarm a gun weilding student - Punished.
Defend your home from vandals - Punished.
Defend your life from attack - On trail awaiting punishment.

There is no hope for the USSA.
Between the corrupt politicians and the stupid libretards there is just no hope left. And yes, the libretards are to blame. They're the ones who got these stupid Zero Tolerance policies passed. School officials are not allowed to think for themselves...they'll get punished too.

So wait... when government comes in and monopolizes education, they can institute ridiculous rules and policies without fear of serious repercussions?

Who would have thought?

@jbwhite: Canada did the same thing for a kid that prevented a knifing. Good job directing that anger buddy.

Good for the kid. He stopped a murder, and he got some time off school. A school that seems to be run by idiots. Win-win.
