This feels exploitative. But I guess in the end everyone got what they wanted, the homeless guy got some money, and this crowd got their photo op and a fuzzy feeling in their wee little tummies.

@edana42
you mean (proud group promotion).

@onoffonoffon
you can't extort "anon" as no individual faces the guilt for not helping as they are anonymous.

@IAFYM & CrakrJak & zeplin4u
what with this we crap change always start with the individual.

@ak2nc1
because you made such a great impact on society. they at least try. your probably just another over weight baby factory sitting on the computer all day.

@Daegog
if we all helped others and only kept what we needed to live healthy, the world would be a great place, but greed will never go away.

@sonofd
I challenge you to name one of them.

@Johanvb
organized crime using the mis-fortunate I'm aghast.

@theshade
explain?

@whodat6484
what would you rather they use? the "anon"
movement is trying to make it about the cause not the individual. but the media uses

While I know not everyone is not the same, and most certainly everyone is not like me. When I was at my lowest I can assure you, any money given to me went on substances to abuse.

This is why I said giving money to someone doesn't help them. If you really want to help someone on the streets buy them a sandwich and a cup of tea on a cold day or when its warm, give them an ice lolly/pop.

zeplin4u: You're correct.

Matthew 6, 2-4: So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

A true selfless act would not involve ego, pictures and useless jibber-jabber, give then move along to give gain. I don't give money, I buy people food, give a coat to stay warm. I have NEVER hung around to get praise. Yes I do do that.

It's only negativity that can make this out to be selfish or some kind of publicity stunt. I don't see any reason to see it that way. Some people may have never even considered such compassion; this video is an example to those and the future generations that find so much of what they know now on the internet. I see nothing wrong with that.

@Critics.

Let's face it, our world is F.uck.ed up.
everybody is trying to survive, to be noticed. everybody has their own way to do it. I prefer this over homemade sex tapes or sack o' s.h.i.t. politicians who will say anything to get the perks of the job. me? i prefer to hope this might be real, and that someone had an awsome day for once.

A lot of Romanian beggars in my country are driven to their 'workplace' and picked up at the end of the day by their handlers.
They have to give them the collected money to pay of the debts they have made to escape their own country.

Although these people are not persons to be jealous of, these people are not what they seem.
Passers by are emotionally blackmailed into giving money (like these anonymous demonstrators) and keep a system of human trafficking and exploitation going on.

The real people who fell through the cracks of society and have to make a living this way are overseen because of this.

If you want to do something for a homeless person, give him food or a drink or see if a homeless-shelter has coupons for food or a bed and give those to them.
This will weed out the trafficking eventually because there will be no money in it for them anymore.

For a group that calls themselves "Anonymous", they really went out of their way to make sure everyone knows who gave the homeless guy money. Don't get me wrong, it's nice that they helped someone in need. I hope it helped the man. I've given money to people in need myself. But then, I didn't stand around for a half hour taking video of it and posting it online. Just sayin......

Oh for crying out loud, they gave that homeless man some money. Do you think he cares if they exploited him, or if he even *thinks* they did?

For all who say things like "extortion" by one of the members and stuff like that. This is what anonymous is about... change (not coins). try to understand it.
and for them who says giving them money wont help them... well, it does. food for a day or a beer to numb the pain of loneliness and stuff. a person very close to me was homeless for quite a while. his situation affects more people then just him. and to some one who has nothing everything means so much much more.

they gave a hungry man some money for food, while you guys gripe about it. All this whining over a good deed.

The just exploited that poor man. I feel bad for him being caught up in the middle of their self righteous public soap boxing and filmed and then left weeping out of shock and a small financial bump. This is why nothing will ever come from the anonymous movement... because they're not anonymous, they're idiots who have a great vision but no education to do anything impactful.

Giving money to people on the streets does not help them, It will only temporarily adjust their situation. The real way to help homelessness is through large scale social change.

When we decide that it has gone on for too long and we as a society change and start looking after the homeless properly. In the mean time there are always charities and out-reach projects that do a great deal of good for the homeless.

People only throw money down to the homeless person so they can say in their minds "I don't need to do anything else, I've done my bit".

On top of that, Particularly in my local area of London we have a large number of scammers who beg on the streets for a living, not because they're desperate. I know of one particular person. This is why I'll never throw change at someone.

I'm sure the person in the video had his *day* made, whether he was genuine or not.

Truly disappointing. They are maligned by one of their members to extort action. It would be good if it was honest generosity instead of a show. For shame. Still some good did come from it.
