"Why doesn't TLC have anything actually educational on it anymore?"

Why doesn't History Channel have anything actually historical on it anymore?

@Keith2, you're way too young to remember when MTV was great. I'm talking before Yo MTV Raps. I don't know how anyone in their 'mid 20s' would even know what MTV really was.

The best bit of the '80s was MTV. It was new, revolutionary. VJs were superstars. No one said "have you heard..." they asked "Did you see the B52s new video?"

It was an awesome time.

If she's in her mid 20s, I think the last time they played music videos on MTV was when she was approximately age 5.

I hated MTV and VH1 back then as much as I still do today. They can play static all day. Don't care.

How sexist...the Head of MTV Programming is a woman named Susanne Daniels.

(PS - I'm KIDDING about the sexism, it's just a joke.)

He's right about the different direction they've taken because back in the day musicians NEEDED record labels in order to become successful (financially). Back in the day the only way to get exposure was to be on the radio & MTV, not so much now thanks to social media. More & more bands take the DIY approach now because, while it does come out of our pockets at first, once you start selling albums, tickets & other merch that money is yours, there's no record company taking their cut.

With a little bit of technical know-how and relatively inexpensive software you can record an album using a PC or laptop. If you know how to produce and have access to a mixing board you can also do that yourself, or have someone you know do it so you don't have to pay much for that either.

The sh*t he says about "stealing music" is pretty much just that, sh*t.
