@turdburglar: yea np

@handimanner: Everything you've written is correct that I've seen. Yet I have a question from what you said "the sun has NO radioactive materials," but if the Sun is a population 1 star (3rd generation) wouldn't that mean there is the presence of metals such as Uranium and Thorium and therefore daughter isotopes like Radon? And are you saying that your belief is that all, or just added helium, is the result of the accretion disk? Just asking questions, not attacking.

Has anyone else seen 'Sunshine'?

I could watch stuff like this all day.
The disappointing thing about having a finite lifespan, is that I will miss all the fascinating discoveries to be made after I am gone.

If they're going to the sun, I hope they have the good sense to go at night.

We are starlight.....
Everything you see was created inside a star. The sun is a 3rd generation star. It has heavy materials like iron and gold that early suns lack. Also, just so you know, the sun has NO radioactive materials. Helium is the result of radioactive decay, however (my belief) is that helium - as well as other nova debris is collected centrifugally. The basic solar disk accrues material - some makes planets - with the heat generated by accretion starting the solar furnace.

This plasma, boiling to the surface in tube streams is monstrously magnetized and creates a jitter of magnetic energy that collects (like when your feet rub on the carpet) and ejects energy into the corona at incredibly high temperatures (the surface of the sun is only about 3000 degrees as opposed to coronal ejections which are measured in millions of degrees.

Basically, the core is plasma (no enduring atomic structures exist there) - all sub-atomics interact to create a controlled ball - if the sun heats up it expands and loses heat. Photons (light) released in this interaction take thousands of years to reach the surface.

The conversion of Hydrogen to Helium in the core is a bit simplistic. The Beryllium chain (as described by Fred Hoyle) is stable and thought to be what keeps the sun from exhausting it's fuel. The best book on this is Marcus Chown's "The Magic Furnace", and shows the progression of science over time to understand solar mechanisms.
