I expect I will go to my funeral actually, then be burned to dust. Not that I will care cos I will be dead.

And they have the nerve to call us atheists arrogant. Just about every church sign I ever read shows the true arrogance.

They dig up Christians all the time and they're still there and dressed.

God: Evil, sick and twisted sky wizard who rules with murder and fear, like a demented dictator. Luckily there is zero proof of his existence other than a "word of mouth" content and an on going brainwashing by his followers.

Offers: Eternity of worshiping him in fairy land (often referred to as "Heaven"). The only catch is you must follow the rules written in a 2000 year old book that is so vague and contradictory that even the smartest scholars can't agree on what the intents are. *Warning* Failure to follow these rules may result in the "loving God" casting you, forever, into a fiery pit.

You are born, you die, the end.

@paperduck: there's plenty of information that's been offered that contradicts the idea of one's experience "continuing". And the irony there, of course, is that there *are* reams of information about how life works.

Faith, however, is a powerful blinder. I, along with other atheists, welcome you to yours. The problem most atheists have, however, is that many of faith don't welcome us our atheism, and instead try to enforce their specific faith on us via law.

In the end, though, it won't matter. And I'm as certain of that as anyone of faith is that they're getting a ticket to Godville by pretending once a week to behave.

If there is a God, I think he would reward atheists for using the freedom of thought he gave us. Those that blindly follow him will not be the ones God wants to share a pint with in heaven.

Atheists know the truth:
The thin film of life on the surface of this planet is continually recycling itself.
Millions of years ago the molecules of water in your blood were dinosaur piss.
In a million years' time the molecules of water in your piss will be part of something else's blood.

Who cares? There is no afterlife anyway. Christians can have this argument with the muslims and jews and other branches of their own faith. It really doesn't bother me, except for its own pointlessness.

A belief in god is not necessary to have a belief in re-incarnation or translation into a higher plane of existence.

The universe and the Natural world exist just fine without an invisible man in the sky waving his hand to make it all work.

This is a paradoxical message coming from a church. Here's my take on it:

It's wise to always act according to whatever information you have. The more certain a matter is, the less it should be ignored. The more information there is on it, the more it can be examined before deciding. This is true and a wise way to make decisions in matters within life as well..... now death is the most certain thing looming over any of us. The only people to offer any kind information whatsoever about it, have stated that your "experience" continues and the way you've led your life matters on how. So the most logical decision is to NOT ignore that. Until better information comes along, it's the wisest move.

You might say "how did they know?". I don't know. But its always the case when someone offers an explanation of something novel, no one knows. You take it until a better one come along... and the concept is refined. Ignoring it altogether seems unwise

I want to be cremated and pressed into vinyl records. I'm going to have to write a few songs specifically for the occasion then make sure they're recorded and stored somewhere safe so none of my friends or family hear them before I check out.

"Agnostic, yo. I can't be sure what happens until someone proves it..."

No such thing as an agnostic. OF COURSE you aren't "sure". I'm not "sure". But every agnostic is an atheist. They are just an atheist open minded to the idea of god if it is proven to exist. I'd like to think EVERY atheist is open to that.

It isn't as if the rapture is going to happen and jesus comes back and goes on SNL and I'm just going to say, nope I don't believe in god.

I don't believe in leprechauns or unicorns either but if i see one I'll change my mind.

The thing is, to an atheist, EVERYONE has no place to go when they die, regardless of their beliefs.

I dunno, I was hoping to be buried in a shroud and nourish a nice tree or something. Return me to the ground whence I came offspring!
