Government has only gotten worse since the beginning of the Bush administration.
Maybe, maybe not, but it's certainly gotten a LOT worse since the END of the Bush administration.

I'm pretty sure I met the USAF general in that article when I was attached to a US intel unit from the brit military.... can't be sure though, it seemed like every guy with at least one star on his uniform popped in for a briefing at some point, but his face does ring a bell.
A database as big as it is now is an absolute dream for an intel analyst to trawl through....the more data you have the better the picture.
But is the few big hits of intel it would give you that smaller more targeted intel gathering couldn't really worth the loss of privacy and liberty of the average innocent person? I personally don't think it is, and it's probably best I'm not having to work with that kind of data any more.
