I live across the street from the McKibben lofts in a similar building. You get used to it, and the neighborhood is a blast!

These people would be stupid for renting that crap. I lived on the UWS/Harlem cusp for four years from '04- '08(pretty nice area, not the best, but certainly not the worst) in a one bedroom, on my own, for 1200/mo including utilities. Not a huge apartment, but definitely larger than these. I loved that little place!

My mortgage is around the same price as most of these apartments...if not cheaper. Two story, 3 bed, 2 full baths. Insane.

oh dear me....this si the sort of hell I have to look out my windows at

when I sit here in my 5 bedroom house on a pristine farm in sunny northland while listening to the twitter of native birds and the distant mooing of wandering cows, watching the tide come in and go out from my waterfront property, breathing clean air and drinking rain water. (which is free) all for the grand total of....880 nz dollars a month. how can anyone live in these conditions?

$700-$1000 for a single room in New York City? That's cheaper than Copenhagen.

Holy crap. I could rent a 3bed/2bath house in Wisconsin for that much.

I honestly don't think that the majority of these looked half bad, especially considering the rent. $700-$1000 for a single room in New York City? That's cheaper than Copenhagen.

The greatest place on Earth? Hardly. Who in their right mind would call it that?
