Ollie is mostly right. Except it's the FDA and you don't have to always round up.

"50 calories or less--Round to nearest 5-calorie increment: Example: Round 47 calories to "45 calories"
Above 50 calories--Round to nearest 10-calorie increment: Example: Round 96 calories to "100 calories" 21 CFR 101.9(c)(1) Also see Appendix H for rounding guidelines."

See questions N7 and N8.

Well, 10 of the calories are bold tasting, the other 5 are kind of bland.

Agreed, I'm thinking the last five-ish calories just aren't as bold.

Bwahahaha if you look at the ingredients it still contains HFCS. Ooo look you diet drink has super sugar and aspartame!

Sucralose is fine. Don't worry they just cook it in turpentine they don't ship it with the broth. Everyone needs a good whore's bath once in a while.

no skullgrin. you are the retard. it does say 10 calories per 8oz. and it does say 15 for the whole bottle. but what you didn't notice is that there are 16.9oz in the whole bottle. that would mean more than 20 calories in the whole thing, but somehow it only works out to 15. DERRR!!!!

The reason is that the USDA makes them round up to the nearest 5 calories. An 8-oz. serving probably has 6-7 calories which has to be rounded up to 10. The whole 16.9 oz. bottle would then have 13-14 calories which rounds up to 15. Simple.

"this is a safeguard.. there might be 15 (kilo)calories in the whole thing, but if someone decides to test this and pours 8 fl oz of drink that contain 9 calories, they can not complain. Even if the rest of the liquid contains less calories in more liquid. Who says that every pour of liquid contains the same amount of calories?

whats with the "1 calorie" drinks? you can just separate a cup taht contains the little calorie and then drink the rest."

lol, thats not how calories work.

Simple. 10 of the calories are bold-tasting, the other five are bland as hell. Why was this so hard to figure out?

The soda has 10 bold tasting calories, but if you eat the bottle? THAT has 15 calories too!

Who says that every pour of liquid contains the same amount of calories?

perhaps there are 10 calories in 8 oz of soda, the bottle contains only 12 oz of soda and the remaining 4.9 fluid oz of liquid in the container is just water. Thus the soda has 10 calories in 8 oz but the 16.9 fluid oz bottle has 15 calories because it is diluted.

It's not just a trick with serving size.

10 cal ÷ 8 oz = 1.25 cal/oz.
16.9 oz × 1.25 cal/oz = 21.125 cal
21.125 cal ≠ 15 cal

Gerry using your equation there would only be 12 oz of fluid to equal 1 1/2 servings.
8 oz = 1 serving
16.9 oz per bottle = 2.11 servings (not 1 1/2 Gerry)
2.11 servings should equal 21 calories.

The maths do not add up. So is this dumb or are you?

A serving is 8 oz.

Sorry I'm a label reader. Most important number on a label? Number of servings. It's a multiplier if you consume the whole thing.
