So THAT's why he didn't declare his thumb-drive. It was his beloved porn stash. Porn is hard to download in China. So this is a story of triumph of western liberalism over the Chinese state controlled society.

Plus a heaping of racism and national security paranoia...

No, you're looking at it the wrong way: They spent 20000% the price of the laptop to save him from being searched and arrested for bringing banned movies and illegal porn into China...

Yes, he stole the laptop, but would he have stolen it (or anything else) if he hadn't been unjustly vilified and fired? We'll never know...

Some might not think it's a big deal but it was a NASA laptop that the government most likely paid 10X the normal price for out of taxpayer money.

So to sum up, Langley Research Center lost an electrical engineering doctor, and this man lost his job and his freedom all based on BOGUS allegations from a Republican congressman. Sounds about right.
