shamrock - if you see a stranger in your neighborhood does he have a right to beat you? Jump on you, punch you to the ground and beat hour head against the concrete?

That is what Martin did to Zimmerman. Why blame Zimmerman for passively following someone? No, martin didn't know he would die, didn't deserve to die, but he behaved in an aggressive fashion and initiated a violent confrontation. Let me repeat - Martin initiated the violent confrontation.

No he did not. Zimmerman was following him. He wasn't just standing around minding his own business. If he stayed in his car, I repeat, he got out of his car to follow. That's what initiated the whole thing.

@shamrock: Your ignorance is matched only by your lack of facts:

Martin: 5'11" 158 pounds

Actual (bleeped) 9/11 Call

The 9/11 operator (NOT a cop!) tells him to stop, and 3 SECONDS later? He does. If you had looked at my previous links? They cover this extensively.

In the following 2 & 1/2 minutes Martin did NOT walk the 100 yards to his home, and Zimmerman was NOT searching for him...

@SmagBoy: Fair enough. Still; I wish you'd look at the facts we have, rather than IMAGINE how things MIGHT have happened...

In Texas I carried a gun, not to "look for trouble" but because I was tired of getting mugged unarmed {twice}. Funny thing, once I started carrying the pistol no one tried to mug me...fortunately.

Zimmerman wasn't getting mugged. Martin didn't track Zimmerman, it was the other way around. If anybody had a reason for self defense, it was the kid.

@Gerry, Zimmerman was looking for trouble. If he doesn't follow Martin like 911 told him not to, none of this happens. Cops were notified. No crime was in progress. Plain and simple.

shamrock,
"So who was looking for trouble, the guy with a gun in his pocket or the kid with skittles in his pocket?"

No one was looking for trouble, but sometimes schitt happens and you have to deal with it.

You are allowed to carry a gun. It does not mean you are "looking for trouble". It's like having a condom in your wallet. You may not be looking for sex, but you want to be prepared just in case.

In Texas I carried a gun, not to "look for trouble" but because I was tired of getting mugged unarmed {twice}. Funny thing, once I started carrying the pistol no one tried to mug me...fortunately.

@ SmagBoy -
"he instigated the fight when he went after him again, even after being told by police to stop."

Check your facts, that never happened.
1: 911 operators are not the police.
2: they always say "don't", They can't very well tell you "sure, take on that burglar! good idea!"
3: He didn't go after him "again" he followed from a distance, then Martin turned on him and confronted Zimmerman. This is confirmed by witnesses and the cell phone records.

Sounds like you were all there at the time and saw it all go down, we don't even need a judge, jury or lawyers! Open & shut case, great work everyone, time to move on to the next one!!!

@Gerry: To me Zimmerman did not instigate the fight when he asked Martin what was up, he instigated the fight when he went after him again, even after being told by police to stop.

@5Cats: Yes, I believe he's guilty, but, liberal or not, if he's found innocent, I'll support that verdict. I'd rather 100 guilty men go free than one innocent be put in jail. And, too, if found innocent, to honor you, I'll take a good look at it again. Fair?

@CaptKangaroo: You said "What happened that night was a tragedy for all involved." Amen.

@5cats, educate yourself. He was told by 911 not to follow, yet he still did. He doesn't follow, none of this happens. Let the cops do their job. I would double back too if someone was tailing me.

So you are saying he got his ass kicked by a 17 year old kid that he outweighs by about 100 lbs while stalking him and carrying a gun?

@SmagBoy: So he's guilty if he's guilty, and he's also guilty if he's not guilty? NICE! Very "liberal" of you!

@shamrock: Please edumicate yourself before sounding stupid like that:
The Missing 2+ Minutes

Evidence That Martin Doubled Back

Or! Here's a CRAZY idea! Let a Judge and Jury decide if Zimmerman is guilty or not!

Zimmerman: One White parent, one Hispanic parent
Media says: He's WHITE!
Obama: One White parent, one Black parent
Media says: He's BLACK!

I expect the usual "crazybugs" will also crawl out of the woodwork too...

HIS SHIRT WAS TUCKED IN!!!

@SmagBoy: Attacked, on his back, being beaten, the man doing it is yelling "I'm going to kill you!" head being bashed against the concrete sidewalk...

NOPE! NO REASON AT ALL to think he might be in danger...

"Zimmerman instigated the fight"
Martin didn't live in the neighborhood he was a stranger. It is not "instigating a fight" to ask a stranger what they are doing there. That is not a reason to jump on someone and start pounding them which is what Martin did. He didn't deserve to die, but Zimmerman has the right to defend himself.

canoas- I think Zimmerman is guilty of 1st degree manslaughter- if they even have such a crime there in the 3rd world state of Florida. I hope Zimmerman get's a good amount of jail time. I also hope he get's sued- if he's not already- by Martin's family for wrongful death and loses there as well.
Zimmerman is the one who set in motion the events that transpired that night; He failed to responsibly carry out his 'duties' as a neighborhood watch representative in a safe, responsible manner- or even according to, protocol, he ignored dispatcher advice, and he panicked when things went wrong.
Mr. Martin certainly could have handled the situation better, but the majority of the culpability is on Mr. Zimmerman.
In my humble opinion.
As for 'rooting'? No. What happened that night was a tragedy for all involved.

I disagree with Gerry. Zimmerman instigated the fight. And, you DON'T have a right to kill unless you're in fear of immanent death. Carrying a gun is like being Spider Man. With great power comes great responsibility. drat, I've been "scared" a lot of times in my life. Even taken a couple of beatings. That doesn't give me a right to kill someone. Especially an unarmed someone. Double especially someone with whom I picked a fight.

Self Defense? Damn right!
I can understand Martin getting a bit pissed that Zimmerman thought he was a burglar, but that's to reason to attack someone. And once your on top of them slamming their head into the concrete, they have a right to stop you, even if the only way available at the time is a gun in your pocket.

So, here's the question: Did Zimmerman fear for his life? Did he fear that Martin was actually going to KILL him. Not beat his short man-diseased ass for him, but actually kill him. Actually take his life.

If the answer is "no", then Zimmerman needs to have his murdering ass hauled off to jail.

And if the answer is "yes", then he needs his gun taken away for being too stupid to own one, and then be thrown in jail for instigating a fight and being a dumb pussy for not knowing the difference between a well-deserved beating and someone trying to kill him.
