Well, as an older person, many years out of the workforce, I found this post interesting. I read the questions, and came up with my own answers, and think that I might actually be able to get a job, should I need to. (And no, I don't mean as a Walmart greeter, smartasses.)

If I ever hear such universally appropriate drivel coming back from an interviewee, I'll mark him down as evasive and/or lacking in creativity.

Likewise I would only throw in a question or two from this dull and uninspired list to draw out people with prepared answers.

So many kids get through their education by memorising dumb stock answers like these. What I want is someone who has a spark of creativity, not just another drone.

You find out a lot more about an interviewee by asking an off-beat question with no obvious answer, like "Which would you rather give up for life: Cheese or Oral Sex?"*

*Not that you could ask that question in an American interview.

At least that tells you about how they would deal with something that comes out of left field, what their logic process is like, their sense of humour, moral position and risk-reward preferences.

Stopped reading at 4. The answers are terrible.
If someone asks your weakness the worst thing you can do is say something that is actually a strength. It's so drating obvious they'll see right through it. The best answer is saying an actual weakness (that's not very bad) and that you're improving as well.

that's the one advantage of being hired by your boyfriend--no dumb Q & A.

If you pick a career that is actually useful to society, and in demand, then you don't have to go through this stupid sh*t. The world doesn't need any more middle management bullsh*t artists.

It's people who try to memorize bullsh*t like this that bomb the interviews.

they haven't asked questions like that for 20 years.
If it's a tech job (the only jobs left) they are just going to throw a spec at you and give you 10 minutes to code it.

They're not all winners. #4 is stupid and stereotypical: "My weaknesses are actually strengths" What BS.

*Fixed* #4: List actual weaknesses that don't have much if anything to do with the job you're applying for.

e.g. Applying for a job in electronics:

"What is your biggest weakness?"

"Well I'm just not that good at bookkeeping. I understand the concept of debits, credits and such but I find the finer details a little confusing."

You can also say how you're "working on it" or showing some inclination to improve your weakness for bonus points as well.
