Totally racist, just like the white pieces always getting to go first in chess.

Obviously not racist. I took it as a shadow figure and the gold as sunlight. Plato's cave may be taking it too far but it ain't about race.

I suspect this councillor is playing to her perceived constituency.

@ 5Cats - Nothing Gold Can Stay - win!

"white people were represented by gold and are superior to black people"

never was the race of either figure mentioned. Both figures represented the same "person/group of students" presenting before the was knowledge was acquired (black) and after the knowledge was acquired (gold).

ghoulie11-"the NAACP seem to be the ones perpetuating "racism". "

There's no 'seem' to it. They're rather obvious about it.

It's their bread and butter. They don't WANT it to go away.

Why is the little parkour guy black?! I find that offensive, are they trying to say that white people are incapable of parkour?!

Some people are just idiots. There is nothing racist here except the idiot who thinks it racist.

@robthelurker: How do we know the boy who made this is "white"? That area of the USA has a high % of blacks, eh? (Note: The girl said he wasn't there that day, eh?)

Honest Question: Would it still be "racism" if the boy who made it was Black? Asian? Other?

You're right. I'm attacking the wrong person.

I shall treasure this moment :treasure:

@markust: Did you look at the IAB offerings? Lots are partisan one way or another; but most are in the "other" category. ie: not political at all...

I don't know what's more ridiculous, the fact that the councilwoman took offence to color of a stick figure, or the response that was given by the NAACP.

Seriously, the NAACP seem to be the ones perpetuating "racism". The student who created that square had no malicious intent when creating it, the perceived offence was completely on the part of that single councilwoman.

robthelurker-"i can see how it would offend people."

I can too. It's because some people are easily offended idiots who look for every oportunity to be 'offended' if it furthers they victim status.

Oh my goshness, no, I don't think that this is racist in any way...nor do I think that the children's intended symbolic purpose for it is offensive. (BTW, I've read that black can be associated with naivety and formation so designating it the shade of the growing process is quite astute.)

i can see how it would offend people. art is all about expressing yourself, but not everyone may understand. with out the artist to explain the context, i was very confused. though it was not the artists intention, what i felt was being expressed in the patchwork was that white people were represented by gold and are superior to black people. of course it should be displayed, but definitely with a disclaimer so that idiots like me who didnt understand the artists true expression wont be confused. the expression the artist was trying to create may not be felt the same way as that of some one looking upon the artists work. art is expression, to both the artist and the patron.

people really need to stop seeing race in everything...every little thing...I mean come on! To me the black stick figure is supposed to be the shadow of ignorance, being "in the dark" about not knowing something, and then the gold one is the sun shining the light of knowledge. It isn't saying that black people are stupid, but that is the way people are going to interpret it because our society is plagued by racism and seeing race in everything. We won't ever be able to truly express ourselves without someone crying RACIST! It's all just so stupid, and every time a generation starts moving away from racism by just not thinking in this way they are immediately told that it's racist and thus the cycle of racism is perpetuated. Whodat said it better than I, I am not making much sense right now I know.

"I only suggest, @FancyLad and/or @The_Mods post it for me."

You're right. I'm attacking the wrong person. Fancylad, if you keep allowing the excessively partisan posts to be approved I'm done. I've been ready to bail for a while. I'm one of the people that like likes to click the comments over and over to see what people are saying. That would be ad money gone.

"@markust: So it's confirmed then? If Glen Beck covers it, I cannot post it on IAB without offending you?"

What I saying is your submissions choices have become more and more partisan through your sources to the point of being ridiculous and it makes me come here less and less. You are a negative influence on my life. I don't need this mind garbage polluting things.

I think Beck covered the Boston Bombing... just fyi. Better avoid all those IAB posts too...

I KNOW he never covered Girls und Panzer so I hope it's safe to post THIS eh?

Note: I have NO IDEA if Beck has covered 'Girls und Panzer' or not. He might be a huge fan for all I know! Or care...

"This is life imitating South Park."

@markust123 - As soon as I started reading the article that's the first thing that popped into my head. This comes straight from the South Park episode Chef Goes Nanners.

"When Chef stands up & demands they address the racist aspect of the flag, he & the other adults discover that the children had not even perceived the racism of the flag..."

"This one is NOT "from The Blaze" so just "get over it" already!"

Really 5Cats. Here was my thought pattern when I saw the post: "Where the hell is he getting this crap from?" Searches the title on Google. Oh look, The Blaze.
