So, to recap: Sarcastic kid pulls funny joke by taking mother's instructions literally, putting tea, TARDIS, British children's novel, and "welcome" signs in bathroom as though to welcome the queen.

I-A-B response: Criticize the type of tea he had on hand.

Yep, that sounds about right.

oh heavens- right, all queue for a kinder egg and a Tea bag. PG or Tetley- yorkshire Tea for those in hard water areas. One teabag ( two of those silly string things) boiling water- stir leave for a minute or so, squeeze out bag, add milk. Should be the same sort of colour as coffee- just a more orange shade. I agree about instant coffee- it is a crime against coffee. Proper beer is not actually warm- but not freezing- it contains a live yeast which is what gives it the bubbles. Most cellars are around 12 degrees . You can freeze that sterilised rubbish, put ice in it or whatever- not much will improve it. the only flavoured tea should be berganot in Earl Grey.

For those who doubt it: there is a big difference between good tea and supermarket box o' teabags tea.

I'd say the difference is on a par with the difference between proper coffee from freshly ground good quality beans and instant coffee. Some of the better brands are OK, but they're not the same as the proper stuff and the mass market brands are usually more about advertising than product.

Um, is the bathroom where Americans like to make tea?
TEA! Freaking TEA!
We Canadians use the kitchen...
And Red Rose tea, it's very good indeed!

The reading material is a nice touch.

"Tetris" Panth? Don't you mean "TARDIS"?

And loose leaf tea surpasses the bagged stuff in every way imaginable. I've got a tin of Lapsang Souchong that I love to bits. Smoky tea goodness...

I was never a big fan it until I first tried it in Afghanistan. As soon as you step foot in a friendly town/village the elders always invite you to sit, talk and have tea. Many of them view it as an insult if you refuse, to them it's like saying you don't appreciate their hospitality. I'm sure it's much different than what most of you consider tea, you should try it sometime.

A friend and I had a sort of "casual high tea" at n 1800s farmhouse a while back. They served long-leaf tea freshly scooped into an open topped teabag sort-of thing (just replaces a tea ball) and - wow! - what a difference from the crap Grandma would make with Lipton tea when we visited.

More research needed.
Is that the Harry Potter first edition! That book must be worth $100 G's.

madduck - Please do educate us about tea.
And after you've finished I'll give you a short lesson in beer. For starters would it kill you to put it in the refrigerator? warm beer I ask you
