The only terrorists in this world are the USA and the ones it breeds, but specially the USA

Come to think of it I just drew an interesting parallel. We know someone who blows up other people's backyards, yet aren't all that frightened by him in particular, and flip when someone blows up OUR backyard....

....and vice versa.

Now tell me how many civ casualties there'd be if Yemen did anything?

Probably not in the form of mass killings but they'd still occur. They'd simply be there in the form paramilitary police raids on John Q Public's door. But put the shoe on the other here, who'd you think would be the greater terrorist? The terrorist who DOESN'T terrorize your neighborhood or the country that sends drones from afar to blow up the neighborhood said terrorist resides in?

Now which one was it I missed or is it because your point has been destroyed? Tell me the Utopian solution to Al-Q in Yemen then?

"McGovern do you always pick one statement to harp and throw fuel on instead of trying to listen to the entire message and respond?"

Drone strikes are mean!! We should give Al-Q a time out in the corner I'm sure that'll set them straight!! It's not like they always didn't want to kill us all......

remember the Yemeni government is actively against al qaida.

Yes, After Saudi Arabia and the United States pressured them to be. It's where Al-Q has been going as a safe haven for awhile now geee wonder why? So Yemen now wants to get rid of Al-Q which we help them do and get bitched at for civilian casualties. Now tell me how many civ casualties there'd be if Yemen did anything? Which from what I see from them is a whole lot of nothing.

@McGovern "If I had a militant training camp or someone building IED in their backyard for a neighbor I'm pretty sure I'd see a few clues and not be too cool with it."

I doubt it's entirely in the open, remember the Yemeni government is actively against al qaida.

But assume they weren't... There are decent people who live in very pooty neighborhoods here. They can't just up and leave even though there are violence and drugs all around. We also can't expect them walk up to a gang member and tell them to please stop. So are they ALL deserving of crimes and accidental deaths that befall them.

What kind of privileged life do you lead man?

AND probably gangs in these neighborhoods are like errand boys for the ones those people have.

Funny:
When Bush used drones it was "Evil Bush Kills With Drones"
When Obama uses 2X as many drones? It's "The Evil USA is Killing With Drones".

Funny? Hysterical.

The "Governemtn" of Yemen tolerated and even encouraged the AQ for a couple of years! Because AQ kicked around some other anti-government groups. NOW of course the AQ is out to overthrow Yemen's government, so they came crying to the USA for help!

And Obama helps them! Despite them being tyrannical tyrants...

"Now who is we? The messiah Obama seems to disagree with that statement it would seem. Perhaps there's a good reason he continues to do so that we don't know."

I guess you can stop calling him the messiah then.

We also feel that it's short-sighted to do so, because it only enforces the view that the extremists espouse to the innocent people there.

"The same people around here who constantly complain about how violent U.S. government is, against whom they have the right to preach against, can't seem to admit it's much less violent and way more free than Islamic states."

I don't think I've ever heard anyone here imply that. We're all equally pissed off that the Middle Easy is full of tyrannical governments. However, we respect the sovereignty of those states and don't believe that our spite for their governments means we can drop bombs on innocent civilians who play no role in that madness.

We also feel that it's short-sighted to do so, because it only enforces the view that the extremists espouse to the innocent people there.

If China were conducing drone strikes in the US, guys like you would almost certainly be filled with the same hatred.

You have neighbors doing things you have no clue about, I guarantee it. So I guess if they get taken up on any charges, you should have to as well because you didn't live far enough away? That is absurd right?

Try to think of how a tiny "peaceful" village dosen't see there's a terrorist group within it, accepts it and lives next to them but somehow thinks it'll be a safe place for the kids!

@McGovern "That and most people killed by these strikes are most of the time aiders and embedders. Unless you think they're forced to live with them and aid them but then that would mean the majority of the poplulation is forced to obey a minority which doesn't add up."

McGovern, try to think about your mentality in that statement. Then think about the kind of things it can lead you to automatically be OK with. Then try to imagine what that would do to a person in Yemen who has that same mentality.

The same people around here who constantly complain about how tyrannical the U.S. government is, against whom they have the right to defend themselves violently if necessary, can't seem to admit it might also be harming innocent people in other parts of the world.

If you were so afraid of getting bombed then why did you live along side a terrorist group? I would think getting far away from them and cutting ties with them would be a good step to not blowing up.

Gerry at what point and why exactly did we go to "war" with Yemen (and Somalia and Pakistan)?

Tyranny is hell too, probably worse than war. Not an excuse for it.

Some people in here should at least try to imagine what it would be like if the shoe was on the other foot.

Why, we'd have global media attention for a week, a selling point for the next US election and at least two movies documenting how tragic it all is when it happens to America.

Yeah because all young activists within American libertarian/conservative movements (course ideology isn't that important) have committed some heinous act.

I've never heard of a libertarian/conservative youth activist, but if you ever find one, you have my permission to kill him, too.

Sorry, at what point did they say war was not hell? You could'a lined up a lot of germans or Japanese after wwii and let them testify about getting bombed as well. What's the point?
