HG...the fact that you think your post IS counterpoint just proves it only takes a 3rd grader to outwit you.

You better watch your ass at recess.

"It is a simple distinction. Alcohol deaths are suicides. Gun deaths are homicides. "

Sooooo, it's safe to assume a drunken driver that kills someone while driving a vehicle committed, suicide?

"HG you're such an insufferable twat.

You understand full well what I'm saying yet you somehow feel the need to chime in with your usual douchenozzelry"

Haha. Yes. Because I have a counterpoint to your pointless point I'm a twat. Keep beating the drum. If you don't possess the ability to conjure an intelligent retort then name calling will definitely showcase your brilliance.

It is a simple distinction. Alcohol deaths are suicides. Gun deaths are homicides. I have no problem with suicide. People can make their own choices. If you can't make that distinction then you probably really are as dumb as your 3rd grade lunch table name calling implies.

"Just how many deaths do the Bud people indirectly cause each year?"

Alcohol, used properly, kills yourself.

Guns, used properly, kill other people.

See the distinction there?

i saw "Adolphus Busch IV Resigns..." and was excited thinking that he quit Anheuser Busch and was dissolving the company for the good of all man kind, but alas i read further and was disappointed. if he wants to do good in this world he can start by making real beer.

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for the guy selling the swill he calls beer and making a mint. Just pointing out maybe just a wee bit of hypocrisy.

"So propose then, a proper background check that would prevent this, since none of the proposed legislation would have."

I promise the NRA would oppose it.

"The background checks we have are inadequate. A convicted murderer can get out on parole, go to a gun show (in my state) by a semi auto rifle, then buy a conversion kit at the next booth, then get online and buy thousands of rounds of ammo."

"you mean they oppose the background checks that already exist? or the fact that a background check is already in place for an internet purchased firearm? They oppose those checks? or they oppose the fact that in some places in order just to buy a gun (legally) from a friend or relative you have to have a permit to purchase? They oppose all that?"

Yes. They oppose all those things.

"We already HAVE background checks."

Yes. Despite them. They opposed every measure ever put in place. If we had NO background checks right now and the president tried to install background checks the NRA would oppose it.

The background checks we have are inadequate. A convicted murderer can get out on parole, go to a gun show (in my state) by a semi auto rifle, then buy a conversion kit at the next booth, then get online and buy thousands of rounds of ammo.

I'm confused. We already HAVE background checks.

"That is a bullsh|t statement right there."

No it isn't. They oppose background checks on gun purchases. They oppose tightening the regulations on internet and gun show purchases. They oppose any measure whatsoever that might make it harder for a criminal to get a gun.

HG: "The NRA doesn't care if a criminal buys a gun..."

That is a bullsh|t statement right there.

What the NRA doesn't want is everyone that legally owns a gun being treated like a criminal because they might want to give or sell one or more of their guns to a relative or friend.

They also don't want to see people's HIPAA rights violated by overzealous gun grabbing liberals, like what is already happening in New York with their new SAFE act.

Yeah, gun and ammo manufacturers....and about 100 million legal and law abiding gun owners in America. BTW, who the heck is Adolphus Busch? Some drunkard, wannabe actor???

5Cats Thank you! They're deliberately reporting that 90% of Americans want background checks done before you buy a gun.. DUH! THIS bill was MORE... and as Obama put it "expanded background checks" which is NOT what 90% want.. not even CLOSE.

@FoolsPrussia: There already ARE a lot of "background checks" in place in the USA! This proposed Bill did NOTHING to make America safer, freer or in any way improved.

It DID cost tons of money, make law abiding people less free, and open the doors to MORE LAWS just like it! That was the Democrat's PLAN A! They bragged about it. Weren't you paying attention?

"I would confiscate every firearm in America" Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein

Again I repeat myself: People support the idea, but this Bill was NOT 90% supported by any measure.

I support "speed limits" but to lower the legal highway speed to 35 Mile Per Hour? Um, NO! It was tried before (55) and FAILED by every measure imaginable...

"Even households with NRA members overwhelmingly supported background checks. Clearly, the NRA isn't even representing their own members well."

The NRA doesn't care if a criminal buys a gun as long as somebody buys a gun. The gun industry makes just as much money from a responsible citizen buying a gun as it does a career criminal.

If you are too much of a b.itch to defend yourself from getting your ass beat by a high school kid without needing a gun then maybe you shouldn't go out at night stalking people and pretending to be billy badass.

Promoting gun ownership rights might also support the gun & ammo manufacturers. Is that such a bad thing? But does it matter that you can own a gun but you're not allowed to use it?

He's lucky his grandfather isn't alive, he'd have his ass beat. Not for his asinine resignation, but for selling the family business to a foreign company.
