Equating this with IRA???? Good grief, get a grip. When all this comes down it will be a case of another twisted grip on reality. Sure, that describes most aggressive religions, but the probs in Ireland were political, religion using politics and vice versa. This (Boston) is a warped protest on a foreign soil by little-more-than-kids. Time to re-think immigration.

First off, early reports show that the brothers are Islamic. They immigrated here in 02 (the older brother later) so it's kind of a domestic terrorism coinciding with alienation with immigrating to this country - one of the brothers having probs fitting in( the elder). It's all tragic. I doubt there is any foreign influence here. My heart goes out to the kid brother right now, I think he got ensnared by the older brother.

All this hullabaloo won't do the continuity IRA's long term fundraising efforts in Boston's dodgier Irish-American bars much good, that's for sure.

Why is everyone calling this a "terrorist act"? Terrorism is not just a violent act. It's a politically motivated act of violence. So to say that this is a terrorist act is to make the assumption that these bombs were set off to promote some kind of political agenda. However, no political agenda has been voiced.

STOP ASSUMING, PEOPLE!!!

Until proof is provided as to if they were involved with a terrorist organization or not all the media can provide is speculation.

I'm just going to wait for the facts to present themselves before I go casting blame on any outside influences.

A request: Can we try to avoid the f-bombs and other salty language and NOT start having a Liberal vs. Conservative/"It's Obama's Fault" argument over this?

Tempers are high, Americans have died and been horribly maimed, and the situation's still not over. (I know that my own blood is boiling, and I'm usually pretty calm.)

Can we as Americans NOT start screaming at each other over this? Please?

I would hope if it were possible not to kill the kid- they wouldn't have- so that they could get information out of him.

And then of course turn him over to the families affected by this.

"I do know that any terrorist or Muslim ties would be bad for Barry/Liberals."

How the f.uck do you figure that?

I'm sorry, but for this man to censure our law enforcement for using deadly force against two individuals who were WAGING WAR on a local community is about more than I can stand.

When were the cops supposed to extend their hands in friendship toward the older brother? After he shot the officer dead? Before he and his brother started throwing explosives? I'm confused.

On the one hand I agree with him, on the other hand he's a total prick. It's not his place to say it. So much for "statesmanship".

Lame. Stop trying to score political points on this issue. Your point doesn't even make sense, since Obama has ramped up the drone program, killed Bin Laden, etc.

Could be a reason for such quiet on the subject.

Except that Chechnya's terrorist groups have well documented ties with Al-Q.

@FoolsPrussia

Ever think they just might be withholding info for the time being to take some people they're intersted in by suprise or keep the public calm?

Also re. Al Qaeda: That idea doesn't make sense to me. Al Qaeda would have released a pretty prompt statement after the bombings claiming responsibility. They do that because it serves their needs.

@AJ: Not so, for the moment.

"Initial indications are the two suspected Boston Marathon bombers likely do not have direct links to any major al Qaeda group or affiliates, or to a new significant terrorist threat to the United States, according to a U.S. official familiar with the latest intelligence information."

Adding Chechnyans to my list of evil countries and religions...

Finally, I know who I'm supposed to hate and discriminate.

Gee, wouldn't it have made more sense if this 'certain Tsarnaev' wouldn't have set off bombs and killed people in the first place?

@LordJim

McVeigh was the only person in the world who described him as a Libertarian; this is like saying McCain is a Conservative.

For more information, the Libertarian Pledge states the following:

I hereby certify that I do not believe in or advocate the initiation of force as a means of achieving political or social goals.

This is the core pledge and principal of the Libertarian party. I cannot, with this in mind, understand how you can consider McVeigh a Libertarian. You should make an honest attempt to understand Libertarian principals before attempting to discount them.

A goose that claims to quack is still a goose.
