At least one factory in China was caught using 4D pigs to make instant noodles. They used the rendered fat for deep frying, which is the most expensive ingredient.

I'm sure my dog still eats more healthily than I do.

Big whoop-de-doo... What would those pets eat if they were wild animals? About anything they can kill or find.. For ex dogs can eat pretty rancid meat, they aren't affected by botulism. Cannibalism? If there's a dead dog, do you think the pack buries it rather than chomping it down immediately, no remorse among animals..

Pets consume a lot of resources already, when you think that someone gives their cat a 20$ meal and people are dying.. HUMANBEINGS, FFS!! Your fellow species is dying and someone dares to criticize pet eating the leftovers of what we refuse to eat, i think that's a good thing.

My cats catch things just so I'll take it away and give them Greenies. Well kitties don't like that greenish gray organ. I think the gall bladder. As long as their pet food doesn't have gall bladder they don't seem to mind.

Dogs and cats naturally eat the innards of their prey in the wild. Dogs will also chew and suck the marrow out of the large bones of much larger animals.

And as Gerry mentioned they eat other stuff that would make us sick. Just remember that the next time your dog wants to lick your face.

I'm pretty sure my cat doesn't care what he eats as long as he gets to eat.

My dog eats my daughters used tampons and uses the applicator as a chew toy, plus eats his own turds.

Oh goody! Another scare article specifically designed to terrify pet owners.

This is ridiculous - up until the 1920's, pet food didn't exist - dogs and cats ate garbage, other dead animals, and anything they could hunt and catch.

If someone is that freaked out by what might be the pet food, then go to dogfoodadvisor.com - they get dog foods, lab test them and post the results with ratings on nutrition, price, etc. as well as have vet opinions.

But for those that don't want to spend $50 a bag for dry dog kibble... hey - don't be concerned until specific health issues show up.

Isn't it common for wild animals to eat organ meat?

Slightly misleading... the sodium pentabarbitol they're scare-mongering you with is just an anaethetic. It's the painkiller that goes alongside the real 'killer'. So what if it survives the heating, it wouldn't be too harmful.

As for all the 'offal' they mentioned... people have known about that for years, and it's not like they wouldn't be eating it anyway - just look at a carcass of an animal in the wild- lions, hyenas, wolves, coyotes etc eat virtually everything. Plus, if anything as it's being heated to boiling point for 20 minutes, that'll kill most things off anyway - if anything, the meat is probably healthier than what they'd eat in the wild.

(my opinion)

I agree with Gerry too. Plus, its a drating pet. Im not going to buy the damn thing venison. Who gives a poo if its eating roadkill? Leave a dog with roadkill and it would have a field day.

My last dog ate cat turds so all the stuff in the article sounded okay to me.
