@Drakulya, Thankfully tenant laws are very strong here in nyc. The only thing he can do is raise the rent 3% each year.

Not to complain, but have a look at Australian house pricing and you'll all feel better.
A studio apartment in Melbourne city will put you back AT LEAST $400 p/w and that's a pretty poo tiny, one bedroom apartment. Australian housing prices are crazor.

You'd be mad to install this in a non rent-controlled apartment. the landlord would just have you out at the end of your contract and replaced with a higher paying renter.

And before people complain about the cost of apartments in nyc. Let me state that you get paid significantly more here than other places.

As an example salary doubled when I transferred to NYC. Same job same duty just double the pay.

Plus unlike the rest of America, most of us don't have to worry about car notes, car maintenance, car insurance, and gas prices.

In that neighborhood, this is greatest deal you can imagine. As point of reference I live in the ghetto of Brooklyn and I pay $1300 for a 2 room Rail Road apartment.

In that neighborhood studios start around $2000.

Gerry: The fridge was a single drawer. Looking at the liquor cabinet, I think the idea was that you just keep martini olives and mixer in there and go out to eat.
Christ, you'd be lucky if a guest didn't crap in your closet by mistake.

That kitchen would make me suicidal.
Barely any counter space.
Where was the refrigerator?
