My late beloved cat would stare, then reach around behind the mirror. Feeling nothing, she would then creep behind the mirror, and emerge on the other side, very puzzled. Of course, this is the same cat that ran around the room, and looked out the window, looking for the dogs that bark on Pet Sounds.

intereseting how most dogs want to play with their reflection while cats get aggressive and belligerent

The head bonking... it's why I went out of my way to help my cat understand it's just his reflection. He hasn't freaked out at a mirror since. (It's not as funny but at least he doesn't get hurt.)

I'm pretty sure the puppies were just excited to have a friend. The cats, on the other hand, were out for blood...
