Yeah, Galloway is a seriously twisted guy. He has a strongly Muslim constituency and sometimes plays up to them and sometimes just toes the usual extreme Left line, as in his support for Saddam and Chavez. His debating "technique" (look on Youtube) is never to answer but to squirt out insults like a cornered squid. Admittedly, sometimes these insults are funny and alas people remember the insults and not the reasoned arguments that provoked them.

Dear student asking 2 questions: please wash your hair! Also don't buy clothes two sizes bigger than you. And last don't move like you had huntington's disease! Venezuela and Chavez are no miracles, not everything that glitters is gold or oil. Poor masses are just that, masses, that can easily be used to sustain those oclocracies. This man can't see the forest for the trees, but that's how these governments work. PS shampoo!

I don't know anything about this person but I now want to learn more. Is he a "torie" as I have heard them referred to as?

Mr. Galloway, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

spanerbulb, that's the weirdest thing I've ever heard. Chavez and this guy are forward thinking? Look at all the links I posted on Venezuela earlier. Look at the video of Chavez' foreign minister calling the opposition the party of "little faaggggots".

I didn't realize that Authoritarian radicalism is forward thinking. I just watched a bunch of videos of him. He's kind of psycho, did you know that? Suicide bombing Tony Blaire would be justified. Sure. Tell me how he's against the death penalty again.

And he's also more religious than any of those Christian Evangelicals people seem to hate. But I guess it's ok when he's probably a Muslim?

There's a reason Canada banned him for a bit. He's a bit pyscho. Or just dumb.

@madduck Clare Short don't make me laugh. Robin cook made a principled stand on Iraq. Clare short bungled it up claiming to stay because she could change things on the inside before being kicked out the cabinet, for releasing info and going against collective cabinet responsibility.

And the whole bugging UN thing stupid comments making it sound a lot worse then what it came out to be. And she backtracked the hell out of it.

I can agree with Tony Ben even if I disagree with some of his positions. Mo mowlem don't know enough about.

Unfortunately spanerbulb Galloway does not operate from anywhere other than ( I suspect) his own benefit, Compare him to Tony Ben- who was very clever, stood by what he said, and stood up for his beliefs.... if we could just get a few dozen of him and a few Clair Shorts and Mo Mowlems back we might stand a chance of getting this lot out..

People really do fear the idea of free thinkers with an agenda of change to the status quo, politicians like George Galloway are able to take a stand and stand up for what is right for all, not just the minority.Galloway for his faults is at least looking forward rather than backward. I guess that's what separates liberalism and conservatism, the ability to actually see the need for change and strive to achieve it.

He's also the same guy that stormed out of a debate at Oxford University only last month when he realised he was having a debate with an Israeli student. He said "I don't debate with Israelis".

@Fwoggie2: That's this guy? What a dick-weed!

Yes, Chavez is (was) the socialist (fascist) poster-boy! Like Mugabe of Zimbabwe and Castro of Cuba before him, all became Nazi-esque tyrants... complete with death camps and murder-squads! (idk about Chavez having death camps though, just those other two... and every "socialist" dictator before them).

Jimmy Carter is an even bigger dick-weed than this fool.

@Andrew155: So their murder rate is 10X that of the USA? But the USA is the worst in the whole world ever! (or so the lib-tards tell us...)

It was still an epic, old-school outburst.

Wow! He's an "old school" politician who actually uses whole sentences! Paragraphs! No teleprompter in sight!
That was an EPIC beat-down! And not one cuss word.
A 4.0 is well deserved for this! Time flew by, it was so much fun!

I shudder to think how the IAB comments have gone...

Ok- cool- wasn't sure. It does not always follow that an amoral idiot makes a bad MP or vice versa. Many years ago I lived somewhere where the local councillor was a militant Stalinist in the middle of Stockbroker Tory land. Everyone knew his politics- but he went out to bat so fiercely for the locality he got elected every time. Then he though about becoming an MP. Luckily he was not stupid and worked out that no party would actually risk it..... even the Tories!! However- Galloway is not a nice man- a tough of the Terry Thomas there too I think...

On the Iranian execution LordJim is correct, he is correct in saying that George Galloway did say he did not agree with the death penalty or deportation.

Yet the reason "outrage" claimed it was Gay related was because the two executed were 14 and 16 at the time and the kid they allegedly raped was 13, five others were involved but did not sleep with the 13 year old and so were only deported. Some say it was consensual yet under Iranian law no one under the age of 14 can consent, and so the father's statement was taken, he claimed it was rape. Yet also under Iranian law, "death sentences handed to children by Iranian courts are supposed to be commuted to five years in jail," According to Asgari's lawyer, Rohollah Razaz Zadeh. Yet the Supreme Court in Tehran upheld the death sentence, despite the Convention on the Rights of the Child, of which Iran is a signatory, leading to the controversy.

@madduck he's not a good constituency MP. He get's elected then never re-elected. Once they work out he stands for dividing a community thinking he can get with the anti-establishment and Islamic votes they never take him back. He rarely ever attends parliament, I think only Gordon Brown has a worst record then him in this parliament.

True. He once supported gay rights when it suited him, now he'll throw them under the bus to keep his muslim voting base on board. There is pretty much nothng he won't excuse as long as it is done by someone who hates the west. Or the north. Or whatever, you know what I mean. Us.

Not really- an MP has two roles- one to support his party, the policies they want etc- and in this case he is his party- so whatever happens his party cannot form a government as there is only one of him. The second is how he looks after the interests of his constituents- and he could be doing that very well. My MP is a tit who has now risen to party whip, obeys his masters, does as he is told. When half HIS constituents complained about forestry being sold off he just put a letter in the local rag which basically said we were all hysterical idiots who should shut up. But he is a Tory- and my duck would get elected if she got the chance to run with a blue rosette!

If he represents his voters, doesn't that say something about the voters he represents?

Mcgovern- he may actually be quite good in his constituency- I think he stood for his own party. He is independent, he can't do any harm there at all- and if he represents his voters well then good luck to him.

If you have to bring up Jimmy Carter you know you're in trouble.

What next? North Korea as the next hot vacation spot?

Galloway is a showman, I doubt he really has any dearly held morals. He has undoubtedly stood up for what is right on quite a few occasions- but whether he did that because it was right, or because he could smell which way the wind was turning is another matter. If I shook hands with him I would count my fingers straight afterwards...
