"@lauriloo: Nooo, it's all about gender self-identification and orientation."

The point, which you seem incapable of understanding despite what so many of us are saying, is being gay isn't just who you want to drat. It's who you want to have romantic love with and that can be experienced way before a person starts to have sexual feelings. I don't know why you say "gender self-identification" unless you are specifically talking about transgenders. Gay men don't want to be women unless they are transgender. They still see themselves as their original gender so there's no "gender self-identification" any different than you knowing you're a male.

BTW- I started masturbating and looking at my brother's dirty magazines (for the forum stories in Penthouse) before puberty, so puberty has very little to do with any of this. Puberty had no affect on my being straight and wanting to be in love with a man.

Parallel to this, every "trans" person I've ever seen on TV said they knew they were the wrong gender as a small kid. They had no concept of all the things that implied - social roles, expectations, hazards - but still knew what they wanted. So I don't see why knowing you're gay should be any different.

I'm not saying it "cannot happen"! Obviously it can and does. I THINK that it's unlikely to be "permanent" and life-long. The mix-master of puberty throws most of your childhood experiences into the blender and hits "puree"...

Again, you think being gay is only about sex.

@lauriloo: Nooo, it's all about gender self-identification and orientation. Children can "have sex" at a sickeningly early age, long before puberty, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea. Same for "hetero- vs homo-" in a child.

that company is more of an anti bullying campaign than a clothing company

@eduardoleon: Well, I'm glad to hear that!

@markust: I used to watch "Sea Hunt" with Lloyd Bridges. (check IMDB for details) He was so handsome! Didn't make me gay though...

I fell totally in love with Natalie Wood.

@chalket: Who didn't love Natalie? But see my rant on "crushes" below...

@Wendypants: "It came come" that's a Freudian slip if I ever saw one! Lolz!

@ 5Cats, no, some people DO know from a very early age. It came come about from a wide variety of reasons/experiences in a kid's life but it can happen. I knew I was bi-sexual by grade one. It may be rare, but it happens.

I've known I was straight since I was 3. When I saw the movie 'Gypsy' at the theater, I fell totally in love with Natalie Wood. I still remember the literal achy feeling in my chest, it was a palpable longing that I didn't understand. I've experienced that same feeling a few times since, but I have never had those feelings for any male. I never "chose" to be straight, it's just who I am.

Then there's my brother who (though he tried to keep it secret to "fit in") has been attracted to boys since he was 5 years old. He dated girls all through school and had lots of "straight" sex, but he had a feeling all along that it wasn't quite right. He never "chose" to be gay, it's just who he is.

You can't tell me that a 6-year-old "hasn't even FORMED a sexual orientation yet!" That's just ignorant, prejudiced "Bullshiite" from an ignorant, prejudiced "Bullshiiter!"

Around 8 or 9 I had a huge crush on James at 15. Even more so when he was in Salem's Lot. I don't remember any crushes on girls on TV or the movies. I didn't have the same fascination my brother had with the Farah poster. I am 100% sure that I was born gay. There was no "choice" I just was.

"@lauriloo: Puberty. That is all. "

Again, you think being gay is only about sex. You need to get your head out of your a$$. Literally.

I held hands with a boy in 1st grade. Never wanted to hold hands with a girl...ever. I would say my "hetero-ness" was set then and there.

If by "it'll all work itself out" you mean I'll love them either way then yea.

@Kegomatix: Yes, that's exactly what I mean. They'll be what they will be, and you'll be a good Dad for them Those girls will be what they will be, and their parents will remain idiots... (not really! They're both nice folks, just... odd...)

@darkmagic14n: Ah! ic. thx!

@lauriloo: Puberty. That is all.

@skullgrin: "Crushes" are a normal part of childhood. They can be about either gender, but are usually called different things. It doesn't make you a hetero- just because you had a crush on a female at age 3 Or if you had one on (lets say) Hulk Hogan? It wouldn't make you gay. Unless you were 23...

Sorry 5Cats, I'd have to disagree with you one this one.

Around the age 5, I had a crush on a girl in my Pre-K class. Granted, I didn't know what sex was, but that matters not.

""How can a "six year old" be a homosexual? He hasn't even FORMED a sexual orientation yet! " "

I had my first crush at the age of 3 years old. It was on my neighbor. She was in her teens at the time. I had no clue what sex was, all I knew was that I was attracted to her and I liked looking at her and talking with her.

Maybe someday you'll learn that being gay is about more than sex. Maybe if the GOP wasn't obsessed about the sexual aspect of it they would understand gay people better...

The only downside is that if he turned out to be gay I would feel like we wouldn't have much in common. But that's only if he turned out to be the flaming gay type that you see on tv. I still don't have anything against them for being gay, they just annoy the hell out of me.

If by "it'll all work itself out" you mean I'll love them either way then yea. I used to be a huge gay hater, forced into my mind by my dad my entire life. Then I grew up.

When I was like 6 and my cousin was 5, I knew he was gay, and he came out when he was 16 a year or 2 ago.

@5cats Jimmies status = rustled

@KingdomCome: Sorry dude, is that a "facebook thing"? idk what that means.

@Kegomatix: Sibling opposites are fairly common! At work there's sisters, 8 and 5. The older one is "super-girly" wearing cute clothes and doing "girl things" (and very interested in "romance" lolz!) but her younger sister is sure she's really a boy! Of course the parents encourage this, they think it's funny!
I'm sure it'll all work itself out. (your sons and these girls I mean).

"its legit i guess link"

Thanks for the link. I totally called BS when I saw this earlier today. Congrats on IAB for getting this in so fast - keep it up. The reason I called BS was the same as FancyLad - I didn't think a dad wouldn't use the phrase cute couple. What a cool dad!

I never believed the "born this way" thing either. Then I met my son lol. He is only 3 but he is one flowery little dude! It wouldn't surprise me at all if he were gay. My oldest on the other hand was the complete opposite. For a class project in kindergarten he was asked to cut out any three pictures from a magazine and paste them to some construction paper. He picked boobs, another boob shot, and ass (female). We laughed so hard at that one and he couldn't figure out what was so funny about it.

Bullshiite!

How can a "six year old" be a homosexual? He hasn't even FORMED a sexual orientation yet!

This is gay parents making their son gay and then being all gay and happy about his (learned) gayness.

How gay is that?

Plus: It's an ADVERT for a company that sells... GAY clothes!
