@holygod, the US could EASILY take NK out. The problem lies with russia and china backing them up every step of the way. Including military action, which they have stated multiple times. |

I'm pretty sure China and Russia look at Kim and his little gang as the cousins that nobody wants to claim and facepalm collectively every time Kim opens his mouth.
In a conventional sense they might be able to bumrush the south initially, but it wouldn't take long to push em back and spank em badly. |

Oh and I'm sure Europe would've abandoned us in WW2, seeing as how we came in and totally Saved The Day and all. I mean we could've just let you rest on the tender mercies of Stalin's Russia for crying out loud. |

The critical piece of the puzzle that is missing is that the countries you mention lack FORCE PROJECTION. Put plainly, they do not have the means to land a considerable force on the US mainland.
Force projection is a skill that the US is a monopoly of. Consider the Falkland Islands, which the UK could barely strike. Consider Mali, in which the French need US KC-135s to refuel.
If a war were to occur, it would occur in the opposing country. |

The US LIED to get other countries to support them in iraq. This has been proven multiple times and G W idiot even said so himself.
However, theres a huge difference between going in with ground force and containing areas, than issuing first strike orders with nuclear weapons.
Go back to the second world war, when the US dropped 2 bombs on a civilian populations simply to see the effects. Most of the allies condemned it, and it was lucky the war ended as The US would have been ostracized. |

They had no problem following us into Iraq and that was a country that posed NO threat to us whatsoever. Now we are talking bout a country with nuclear weapons and a leader publicly threatening nuclear attack.
I am in no way advocating nuking their country, but I'm pretty sure that if the U.S. decided to take him out China and Russia wouldn't say boo. |

Just a routine scheduled tantrum, as you would expect. NK has more or less been ruled for generations of the kid from 'It's a Good Life' (Bixby).
The country has been ruled by generations who continue to look and behave like petulant teenagers however old they get.
If China actually applies the sanctions they voted for Then NK is less of a problem. They haven't in the past, but I'm puzzled to think why China would want a second, and deeply dippy, hand on pulling the trigger from their side of the ocean.

Um....no. The amount of nuclear war heads the us has in it's possession dwarfs most countries. It'd be suicide for any country to try to start a nuclear war with the US. Look for yourself. |
