he also fought the IRS over his clothes. he got audited after writing off his clothes as a business expense, and got into enough trouble to go in front an arbitrator, or a judge, i forget. anyway, when the guy in charged asked why he felt the justification to write off his clothing as a business expense, liberace replied, "would you wear these clothes in YOUR private life? i don't." tax write-off granted. |

not only a snazzy dresser, but apparently quite the savvy businessman also. he was getting $1 million for gigs when $1 million actually was a large sum of money. |

There's a story about Liberace on the Tonight Show one night. After his performance he went over to the desk and sat down. When the applause died down, the previous guest, an attractive young actress, exclaimed, "I'd give ANYTHING to be able to play like that!" to which Liberace replied, "Would you give 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for 40 years?" |
