It is legal to "block the plate" but only if you have the ball. If there's interference the Umpire can "award" a base, including Home which scores a run.
I see the second runner scored too, but the article says that one didn't get counted!
And, amazingly, the pitcher's team came back to win the game. Wow! |

i played ball for 14 years and have been kicked out of a few games and even though im not a fightin man i can tell you for sure that if that happened to me i would have ripped his goddamn head off - and no that is not "legal" in baseball to block the plate if you do not have the ball |

Sorry, my sources say it is NOT legal to block the plate if you don't have the ball. So the call is intereference and the run scores. But why get in the pitchers face afterwards? Just score the run, win the game, and shame the pitcher by defeating him. |

Wow, bfd. He blocked the plate, which is legal, and as far as I could tell the runner didn't touch the plate at the end of the play so the run does not score. Why didn't the runner step on the plate before getting in the pitcher's face? Score the run first! I had the sound off, did that make a difference? |

I can see the video with no problem. Anyway, the pitcher is either an idiot who doesn't know about interference, or just a jackass idiot who doesn't care. Either way the runner was clearly safe after that. That pitcher is lucky someone didn't take him out right there on the field. |
