Great story! All the numbers are way out, but the basic details are nearly accurate. He turned down $400K, his dog sold for $50, the film only grossed $117 million (only) and guy who sold him his dog back also demanded a part in the movie, which he got. |

Back in the early eighties I was working in Indonesia and an American friend said we should catch the new Stallone movie. When he told me the title I was stunned at the idea of Stallone playing a nineteeth century French decadent poet.
He pulled it off quite well, though. Not historically accurate but entertaining. |

Can't knock the guy's hustle, but I lost a lot of respect for him after watching "The Real Rocky"...a shame that Chuck Wepner would be left out in the cold while Sly makes millions off what is basically a modified version of his life story. |

i like sylvester stallone. how can you not love a guy named after one of the most famous cartoon cats? and judge dredd may have been terrible... terribly awesome that is!! and i like rob schnieder in it too. cmon, its a stupid fun movie. I AM THE LAHRW!!! |

@paperduck: Next to nothing, $35,000 total - apparently.
BUT he made a large % of the profits too, so he got VERY rich off just that one film.
The rest (of his career) was gravy.

I knew a lot of this already. I may not think much of his acting (he's "good", he's versatile doing drama and comedy and such) BUT as a human being he really "has the right stuff".

Except they left out how he was in 14 movies before Rocky, over a period of 5 years, apparently starting in porn. I refuse to idolize or admire him simply because he's made a bunch of money making cheese. |
