The driver may be correct based on the state law, but I completely understand why an officer would want to be notified either way. |

If you are licensed to cut hair you are required to inform the officer that you cut hair even if you are not currently cutting hair when pulled over.
That's the law! D'uh! |

And here's from the Ohio Attorney General:
"If you are pulled over while carrying a concealed handgun, you should remember the following:
Before the officer approaches, roll down your window and place your hands in plain view on the steering wheel.
Calmly tell the officer that you have a license to carry a concealed handgun and that you have a handgun with you. Ask if the officer has particular instructions concerning the handgun.
Do not touch or attempt to touch your handgun unless specifically told to by the officer.
Do not exit your vehicle unless specifically told to by the officer.
Comply with all lawful orders given by the officer.
If you are a licensee and are not carrying a concealed handgun, this section does not apply to you." |

@lolumad: Here's the text of NC's law:
14‑415.21. Violations of this Article punishable as an infraction.
(a) A person who has been issued a valid permit who is found to be carrying a concealed handgun without the permit in the person's possession or who fails to disclose to any law enforcement officer that the person holds a valid permit and is carrying a concealed handgun, as required by G.S. 14‑415.11, shall be guilty of an infraction and shall be punished in accordance with G.S. 14‑3.1. In lieu of paying a fine the person may surrender the permit.

Umm, here in NC you are required to notify whether or not you have the gun on your person. Simply because, as you see in this video; The officer runs his registration and sees he has a CCW, now he doesn't know if the man has the gun in the cabin and if the officer himself is in danger when he walks back to the car. This post is so full of fail... |
