Friday, February 15, 2013 6:44:27 PM g3n3r1k, that's not 'social' labeling - it's f*cking statistical. I'm not good at math either, but damn, I'm not that bad. Don't confuse social classification with anatomical classification - the latter comes first. There are distinct phenotypic (and genotypic) traits amongst every species that distinguish one branch from another. It's natural. For Humans, we tend to draw our cultural adherence AROUND that, rather than the reverse, because of our tribal nature. There's nothing wrong with that either. I agree with your premise, but please don't blur the lines of distinction required to make your conclusion valid. It's counter-productive to open dialogue on this subject. |

Friday, February 15, 2013 6:30:09 PM The program, as the principle explained, is targeted effort to raise the grade level of students who statistically have shown learning difficulties. There is seperate funding for these programs. The principle said on the message that if there is a room left then any student in need of help will be accepted. The wording is a mistake and the program should be based on grade results not the 'colour' of the student. Unfortunate really because some asshat group somewhere will use this to get the funding cut for the program. |

Friday, February 15, 2013 5:26:25 PM Plenty of data that show minority students score lower on tests. In addition, drop our rates among minorities are higher. Those are the facts. It has more to do with economic disparity rather than race. It an education system set to teach to the lowest common denominator with standardized testing and the smothering of creativity, a program this stupid and misguided was inevitable. I would guess the principal was trying to raise the average scores on tests by focusing resources towards groups that need it most. In the principal's infinite wisdom, he chose to focus on race. I don't agree with the program. It's displays the principal's lack of creativity and overall incompetence. Maybe the principal should stay after school for some leadership tutoring. |

Friday, February 15, 2013 5:19:10 PM "Why use the word segregation, when it's really racism?" whats the difference? i get that segregation can be used more loosely but is there really a difference here in this situation? "and Jesse Jackson was nowhere to be seen" he wasn't around for Dorner either. |

Friday, February 15, 2013 5:14:15 PM Because of white racism in the past some will make the mistake of viewing the opposite as less hypocritical and acceptable due to social labeling of other races as being minorities. |

Friday, February 15, 2013 5:07:37 PM What could these black kids be tutored on that is specific to them? Well how about how some people will be afraid of the boys just because of the color of their skin and how they can diffuse the situation? Maybe they are being tutored on how to act when they are racially profiled and pulled over by the police. It could be they are being tutored on how to go the extra mile in a job interview to counter the racial hiring practices that still exist today. All you white people complaining about "racism" have no idea how good you have it. I didn't even interview for my last two jobs. They just gave them to me. The last thing I would do is scream reverse racism. |

Friday, February 15, 2013 4:45:45 PM Wow...I think most of us agree that this is bullsh*t and wrong. However...there is something slightly humorous about the situation...just a little. The situation will get corrected but the principal won't be fired. The NAACP will make sure of that. |

Friday, February 15, 2013 4:45:34 PM Christ, blond white people with Anglo-Saxon features complaining about bigotry and segregation. F*ck you. Your little blond daughter is going to be just fine in life. Unless she is a lesbian she will never experience true bigotry. People like this are such idiots. |

Friday, February 15, 2013 4:42:28 PM Why is this being reported as a 'mistake'? Why use the word segregation, when it's really racism? What steps have the school district/superintendent taken to disabuse this principal of his blatantly illegal and unconstitutional use of public funds? |

What was their thinking? Black kids are dumber and need more tutoring? That doesn't sound right. The second racist thing is the school districts lack of response. If a white principal did this for "no students of color allowed" he'd be intantly fired and then sued by the parents for violating their childs civil liberties. |
