Although it was a racist stance by the principal, maybe it was needed. Hell, where I live, 9% of males "of color" graduate high school. Yes, 9% while the graduation rates for the rest of the demographics are over 85 %. |

In all fairness, i think this perfectly illustrates the reasoning behind why people have employed the term 'reverse racism' - technically superfluous as it may be, it accounts for the double-standard in how society responds based on WHICH race is involved that this term was conceived to illustrate. |

This is racism; however, the principal may just be oblivious to how wrong he chose to attack the problem. He should have set up a program where only those below a certain GPA, grade, test score (whatever system of measurement they use) could attend. This would include many minority students and circumvent the issue of race. Secondly, this sort of thing happens all the time, but if caucasians mention it the words "bigot" and "racist" are instantly used. When applying to medical school, I was granted a peek to the system they use for application and acceptance. There is an unsaid "minority quota" that they must fill in order to acquire certain funds...now in the rhetoric terms of race are not used, it more refers to socioeconomic status but the committees accepting applicants understand the facade. Markust... that is the dumbest statement i think i've ever read. Did you ever think about the fact that these programs that exclude a certain group (whether they 'will be just fine in life' or not) are still EXCLUDING A CERTAIN GROUP. They are excluding a group based on their skin color. If it was EVER the other way around now, the entire country would be down the throats of that school. Not only would the principal get fired but probably the entire board of ed. I'm getting sick and tired of people using the term Reverse Racism. Racism is not the act of treating a minority differently, its the act of treating anybody differently based on race. And seriously, just because someone is white, doesn't mean they will never experience bigotry. I'm white and in college, in almost every one of my classes, I was the minority. But of course this will all blow over because everybody knows, only white people can be racist... It's perfectly ok for every body else. |

Just because YOU'RE a minority due to your sexual orientation (which I don't begrudge either - natural selection at its finest) doesn't mean you have the obligation to come running to the rescue of every other one - they hold you in much lower regard for said persuasion, on the whole, than they will ever appreciate your eagerness to bend-over for them.
