no poo, much more poetic had he used a straight edge razor or something, and probably easier to remember in the long run

There was evidence found at the scene that proves it wasn't him. A foot print.

The people who want to pass gun legislation know they need votes and the only thing that will make legislators vote against the money and influence of the gun lobby is the overwhelming will of the people.

I'm not seeing an overwhelming will of the peopl here like they want you to belive. Sure it's just influence and money the gun lobby cares about.......

Then we admit we DON'T need stockpiles of military grade weapons to defend us from tyranny because the soldiers would never turn on the people.

Exactly what they said in Tienanmen square, Germany, Russia, Colonial America etc.

"Takes advantage of mass shootings to introduce it."

Ummmm. Duh. So? The people who want to pass gun legislation know they need votes and the only thing that will make legislators vote against the money and influence of the gun lobby is the overwhelming will of the people. So they waited till they had it. You find something nefarious in that?

"@HolyGod

It's illogical to think that the vast majority of soldiers aren't pro-2nd Amendment and wouldn't turn on the government as quick as the civilians. All the tanks in the world won't matter if there's nobody to drive them.

Soldiers are loyal to the people and the Constitution, not the bureaucrats."

YES! EXACTLY! Thank you for making my point. Then we admit we DON'T need stockpiles of military grade weapons to defend us from tyranny because the soldiers would never turn on the people.

Every person can have 1 hand gun for personal and home defense and one hunting style rifle or shotgun for hunting? WTF would be the problem with that?

I can't understand it, I have been repeatedly informed that South Africa is far less violent than the UK.

You are joking, yes? They don't call SA the world's most violent democracy for nothing.

No it wouldn't cause I'd be looking at the person not the object used. Blaming object is a kneejerk reaction if they were killed by a drunk driver would I blame the car? The whole closing loopholes with gun shows I don't have much of a problem with but they want much much more than just that.

Oh I got it. "Control heads" being people who advocate gun control. Even though I own a gun and would never advocate for complete gun control I'm a "control head".

Let me ask you a question, completely hypothetical obviously.

If someone with a criminal history and mental issues bought a gun from a private citizen at a gun show completely legally, and then walked into a mall and killed 30 random people, one of which happened to be your 6 year old daughter, do you think your opinion would change? DO you think you would still be so vocally against closing loopholes and making it harder for people who shouldn't have guns to get them? Do you think you'd still be posting pics of your guns and little joke images if someone important to you got their face blown off?

That's a serious question by the way, just trying to gauge your convictions.

There have been successful revolutions/defences that started with citizens with small arms.

5Cats,

Sword control was very much a thing in England in the past, hence the use of the bill-hook as peasant weapon of choice. Basically a hedging tool (by hook or by crook referred to the right to gather dead wood if you could drag it from a tree without cutting) but an excellent melee weapon when used with a short handle. Stick it on a longer pole and it worked against mounted opponents. Excellent piece of kit, I have two; purely for horticultural reasons, I have no intention of rebelling against her maj.

I can't understand it, I have been repeatedly informed that South Africa is far less violent than the UK. Why would anyone feel the need for a gun?

It's not looking good for him, but I recall that the gutter press in the UK nicknamed him Oscar Pissed-off-ius when he chucked his dummy out of the pram during the London Paralympics. Seems to have a short fuse.

'i wonder if there was ever "sword" control...'

1Sa 13:19 Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears:

1Sa 13:22 So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found.

Nah but it's exactly what they wrote the 2nd amendment for.

You think that is even the ball park of the case now?

Revolution is never clear cut as the military vs. the people. It has happened in modern times control heads just refuse to see events in history that shows how wrong they are.

"Well it did get us away from you telling us how to live"

You are so stuck in the 1700s. It seems all gun nuts are. That is your fantasy isn't it? Glorious revolt? In the 1700s the "oppressive" government and the rebels had THE EXACT SAME WEAPONRY. You think that is even the ball park of the case now?

I wouldn't want to be in his shoes when this comes to court. He won't have a leg to stand on. He was armed and dangerous, etc.

Get that ridiculous idea that a gun protects you from tyranny out of your head!

Well it did get us away from you telling us how to live so ya your case sucks and we don't give a f**k what you think we should do. Go whine on a South African forum see how little they want to live like you too.

She didn't notice Oscar sneaking up behind her...
It was silence of the limbs.

And the Oscar goes to (Drumroll)... JAIL!

It must have been dark when he shot her, he said he couldn't see two feet in front of him!

And so on.

Do you know what DOES save you from tyranny? Keeping your armed forces obedient to the principles of your nation, not obedient to your leader.

The US Soldier's Creed was changed in 2003. Amongst many changes, it removed the following:

"As a soldier, I realize that I am a member of a time-honored profession—that I am doing my share to keep alive the principles of freedom for which my country stands.
No matter what the situation I am in, I will never do anything, for pleasure, profit, or personal safety, which will disgrace my uniform, my unit, or my country.
I will use every means I have, even beyond the line of duty, to restrain my Army comrades from actions disgraceful to themselves and to the uniform."

Stopping that kind of change protects you more than a poxy gun in your hand.
