Saturday, February 16, 2013 7:31:50 PM When I was counseling for California I found the younger mothers to be sadly lacking in parenting skills. They needed TONS of assistance. The older moms tended to have their act together. There are always exceptions, of course--I know several. So the debate continues... |

Friday, February 15, 2013 6:44:15 AM I would also like to poinr out that a few years ago it was normal to starta famaily by 20 or so And before that it was normal at 18, then 16, etc. until we're back to the time when we sold women's virginity as chattel trying to knock them up as soon as we could. Appeals to tradition are not valid. |

Thursday, February 14, 2013 11:24:51 PM I would also like to poinr out that a few years ago it was normal to starta famaily by 20 or so, I had my first child at 22, I know quite a few girls who were mothers by 21 and damn fine mothers they are too. My own feeling is that if you squeeze 'em out at 40 or over you are probably too selfish and set to be a mother. but that is not my decision.... |

Thursday, February 14, 2013 2:47:42 PM That's a meaningless statement. Very few teenagers get pregnant on purpose. I'd say probably less than 1%, and the teen pregnancy rate in the U.S. is actually declining, thankfully. |

Thursday, February 14, 2013 2:01:20 PM There actually are clinics that do give out condoms for free. Planned Parenthood will give you a whole bag of them just for walking in the door. |

Thursday, February 14, 2013 1:47:21 PM I agree Zombunny, lets face it- there is a huge double standard here, and as long as it is done responsibly sex is fun. so basically a teenage girl of, say 15 would need to ask her parents about either the pill or the jab? That seem quite intrusive and while condoms should be worn at all times younger girls tend to be ridiculously fertile and have sharp anils. If a girls parents have issues with her emerging sex life she is reliants on condoms which she would have to pay for? How daft- give them free- and allow girls to get jabbed or implanted for free- once over about 14-15 they should be able to make that decision for themselves. |

Thursday, February 14, 2013 1:39:18 PM There are a number of reasons that teenagers get pregnant, and dismissing teen mothers as "sluts" (and I really hate that word) oversimplifies and contributes to the problem. |

Thursday, February 14, 2013 1:22:59 PM What is the situation over there for contraceptives? Do kids have to pay, do their parents have to get involved, do schools sort it out? They have sex ed in high school. Condoms you have to pay for but birth control can be covered by insurance. Stupid people still get knocked up early cause thug wannabees have to "raw dog" it and bimbos wanna bimbo. |

Thursday, February 14, 2013 12:24:58 PM Thank you, madduck. My thoughts exactly. Shaming girls for having sex is part of the reason that they don't ask their parents to help them get contraceptives. |

Thursday, February 14, 2013 12:22:31 PM McGovern. You really don't like women, do you? Daddy's little cum dumpster? That's a damaged place to be coming from. Maybe sharing a little too much there. |

Thursday, February 14, 2013 12:07:37 PM Calling her a slut is quite disgusting. Teenagers have sex, sex is nice, it's fun, and when you are a teenager you want to do it for numerous reasons. Calling GIRLS names for doing what ( quite literally) comes naturally is something belonging to the Victorians. She is no more a slut than her boyfriend, just a shame she has such a pooty relationship with her parents. |

Thursday, February 14, 2013 11:52:42 AM Who will take care of the baby is irrelevant. Parents do not have a legal right to force their daughter to abort a pregnancy. Period. It's not about fetus rights, it's not about parental rights, it's about her rights. |

Regardless of whether she has the abortion or not, I'm sure she'll be up and on her back in no time. |

Thursday, February 14, 2013 11:38:21 AM Gerry, Recently in my small town we had a case of a 16 year old girl who chose to decline cancer treatment. She'd been undergoing debilitating and painful treatment for years and understood that she had the choice of about a year of fairly normal life or three or four years of being treated and treatment being her life, with death being the outcome either way. She chose the former. Horrible for everyone but why would she be unqualified to make that choice? How far should you let this child pretend she's an adult? Well apparently her parents were talking about slipping her an abortifiicient without her knowledge. How adult is that? |
