Slugs and snails also have the distinction of having both the most invasive and most endangered species in the world among their numbers.
The Giant African Land Snail invaded several islands in the south pacific islands. This gave someone the brilliant idea of releasing the cannibalistic Rosy Wolfsnail to those islands to prey on them. Except no one told them not to eat the native snails as well. Best laid plans, and all that.
