People like rob that seemingly justify what this man is trying to do are strange. Killing the daughter of somebody who wronged you 5 years ago is not productive in anything except for egotistical revenge.

Normally, Hitler comparisons are misplaced, but in this case I think it's absolutely appropriate. "What Hitler was doing was wrong, its as simple as that, but i understand what he was trying to do." That's how ridiculous you sound. Hitler and Stalin certainly had his supporters in Western countries, I guess this would be a modern version of one.

Hopefully, he froze to death on that mountain.

murder is wrong, its as simple as that, but i understand what this man is trying to do. i do not agree with what he is doing, but if we want change, we need to actually do something about it instead of standing around like idiots choking on tear gas.

Well that's cool @markust! (we cross-posted there, eh?)

"No worries mate!" (it's one of my favorite expressions)

Now I hope they catch this guy before he hurts anyone else. I think we can all agree on that!

@djwajda: I couldn't find your link (the Yahoo Tim Tebow one) sorry. I did find the story it origionates from on FoxSports... but it's redundant now.

And as usual I show up late because I couldn't find the darn link again, lol.

Honestly, it doesn't matter what they decide to publish or not publish as alot of it could have to do with the investigation and people's privacy. As I said what he is doing right now is wrong no matter what has happened previously.

First off no that was not the link.

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/suspected-gunmans-manifesto-tim-tebow-charlie-sheen-everything-092019548.html

Secondly, the advice I gave had nothing to do with believing anything at face value although that is exactly what you were doing @markust123 by claiming that the other versions were not real when in fact you don't know that to be sure just as 5cats does not know for sure that they are. As I stated, let everything come out before you jump all over a person.

Personally I don't care what is or isn't in his manifesto. If indeed his accusations are true then LAPD has alot to answer for. And I really don't care what his political affiliations are. However for someone wanting to have their name 'cleared' to go around killing people doesn't make sense...period.

Thank you @djwajda! It is my opinion that @markust has mistakenly "rushed to judgement" on this issue of manifesto length.

Yahoo News Quotes It right at the end.

Another Posting Of The UN-edited Manifesto

It seems perfectly reasonable and logical that the police (or FBI, or whomever) ASKED that the second half of the manifesto NOT be made public yet, since it names dozens of people who are in NO WAY related to the case.

@markust seems to believe that FoxNews would never comply with such a request? Riiiight.

It looks like myFOXla has a new update that sounds like their full version is real, "NOTE: At the request of the Los Angeles Police Department, FOX 11 has removed all names mentioned in this manifesto for their safety. Also note that we have redacted some offensive language contained within this statement." Not exactly the claim people are making on here that the police asked them not to publish the whole manifesto but I am man enough to admit when I am wrong. The partisan blogs got one right without spinning it. You can imagine my surprise.

"Hmmmm...well, Yahoo news is now printing 'excerpts' today that don't appear in the version as linked to in this posting so I might suggest as it's been said earlier here to wait and see what more comes out before rushing to judgement on 5cats or anyone else."

Yes that is good advice, lets all just take the "reporting" in partisan blogs at face value. What a wonderful world of misinformation that would make.

Is this what you were looking on Yahoo News? It's an Atlantic Wire story and in it the manifesto they point to is from the reputable news source Boy With Grenade.

"By "this" I meant "this story", not your opinion of this story. I am as upset by this story as I would be about Joseph Stalin's kid accidentally breaking George Bush's greehouse window with a mis-kicked football."

That is good. I was good I was confused by your response. Love the metaphors

Upset? Why would you be upset at what I wrote? I was just pointing out the manipulative nature of partisan blogs. The misinformation that is parroted from their readers daily is mind numbing.

Disgusting isn't it Gerry. Todays sensational news is the core of what causes mass shootings. I'm surprised it took this long for someone to pull a Rambo.

Let me de-spin what 5Cats said MacGuffin. There is an 11 page manifesto that the media is presenting (including Foxnews.com). There are also numerous extended versions that the partisan blogs are pushing to turn the story into a political issue when the story has nothing to do with politics. I was merely questioning the authenticity of the different blog versions. What makes more sense that Foxnews.com would not print something that makes the guy look like a liberal nut or that the partisan blogs are combining two to three different things this guy wrote to push their point of view?

He is targeting the families of officers he believes failed him when he was fired from the LAPD. The young woman he killed in Irvine, along w/ her fiancee, was the daughter of a retired police Captain who had also been his Union representative at the time he was fired. Sadly enough, from what I read of his original case, it is plausible that he was wrongfully terminated from the police force. On the other hand, it's wonderful that this nut-job is no longer a cop.

Oh look, another failure at life has been turned
into a media superstar. He's on the cable news
channels all day long! His photo is on TV and he
is the star of his own reality show "Police Hunt".

@MacGuffin: The killer targeted the daughter of a retired cop (who he held a grudge against) and also killed her fiance.
He shot at 4 cops on 2 occasions, killing 1 and wounding 2.
Thus the 3 murders he's accused of.

His "manifesto" was put up on his FaceBook page. Some say it's 24 pages but most Media are only posting 11 pages at this time.

So @markust says it's a "vast right wing conspiracy" and the extra 13 pages are FAKE. I say that the extra pages name lots of people who have nothing to do with the case and the police probably ASKED the Media to not publish it at this time.

There are four pages of commentary in this thread, and ain't nobody got time for that. Would anyone care to summarise the viewpoints that have been expressed to date?

Tbh, what popped into my head when I first heard this story was that dialog from Reservoir Dogs that goes:

"You kill anybody?", "A few cops.", "No real people?", "No, just cops.".

As long as they keep their arguments to themselves, I couldn't care less what American cops do. A majority of them have a predilection for psychotic violence and bullying from what I can tell, which if directed inwardly can only be a good thing. It's when they decide to abuse teenagers, women and black citizens I start to give a toss. Not until.

@markust: Please link a story reporting that the "extra" 14 pages are fakes.

That is all.

"You're goint to look like even more a fool that you already do when the entire manifesto is a matter of record."

I'm going to look like a fool because the partisan blogs actually got something right without spinning it???? I think the look I would have is of shock.

Anyone who reads partisan blogs (on the left or the right) is a parrot who spews angry bits of misinformation.

markust123-"One of the three sites I saw the actual manifesto on was Foxnews.com."

And your point is? Did I say that I exempted Fox News? Did I say I was a fan of Fox News.

I was pointing out that YOU were pointing to omission of content on only a few sites as proof of non-existance.

You're goint to look like even more a fool that you already do when the entire manifesto is a matter of record.

@MeGrendel, "You take the fact that the MSM didn't list the entire manifesto as 'fact' that any information that they don't post does not exist."

Oh my god you made me laugh so hard I almost spit coffee all over my MacBook. The conservative propaganda machine has you spun so tight you don't know what you're supposed to say anymore. One of the three sites I saw the actual manifesto on was Foxnews.com. I guess you better email Fox and tell them to quit calling all the other media MSM because according to you they are now the MSM. It's going to be pretty hard for them to sell their sensationalism if they do that though.
