somatype is right. It's a carrion beetle with an overpopulation of hitchhiking mites. they're not hurting it, just freaking it out because it can't fly with the extra weight. |

They are mites, not eating the bee but attempting to hitch a ride. It's a process called phoresy. However, too many of them have climbed aboard the bee and she is too heavy to fly! |
