Sunday, February 03, 2013 12:39:16 AM Meh. I use chopsticks and/or only eat during a bio break. I loved The Prestige because I love David Bowie, top hats, black cats, velvet curtains, smoky rooms, fire and electricity, and costume pron. Also straight razors are shiny. |

Saturday, February 02, 2013 11:19:27 PM @robthelurker - People are talking about tesla because they can.. It's the Internet. People get bored and waste time, either yelling at eachother or discussing new things. To each their own and stuff. |

Saturday, February 02, 2013 6:39:07 PM Tesla didn't invent AC, he invented the first motor that could use it. It wasn't just a blood feud between Edison and Tesla, but between different companies with big $$$ investments on the line. We also use *both* DC and AC today. Don't believe everything that you read on the Oatmeal. If you want to blame someone for what happened to Tesla, blame JP Morgan. |

Saturday, February 02, 2013 2:50:56 PM Modern world is due in no small part to Tesla's genius, Edison on the other hand was conniving and smart. Edison was almost all business, where as Tesla was the technology and the ideas. Tesla wanted a better future for everybody, Edison not so much. modern equivalent? Tesla = Woz, Edison = Jobs |

Saturday, February 02, 2013 11:36:43 AM @klaxor: Read before you post! Edison tried to BLOCK modern electricity! He worked in DC, which is VASTLY inferior to AC on a big (city sized) scale. AC was 100% invented by Nicola Tesla. Since Edison hated Tesla, he spent a lot of time & money trying to sabatoge his inventions, including AC electricity. First hydro-electric power dam? Tesla. (Westinghouse) Yes: Edison, especially early on, was a genius and invented many wonderful things. He also had a staff who invented stuff he'd take credit for. AND he'd buy patents and claim it was his invention too (like the "light bulb" which you mentioned). |

Saturday, February 02, 2013 11:27:55 AM @klaxor Edison stole most of his "inventions" from other inventors, mainly Nikola Tesla's work on Alternate Current. So, yeah, he was a douche. |

Saturday, February 02, 2013 10:31:01 AM That damn Edison, bringing us electricity, in-house media, basically inventing the way we live today. What's with this hatred of Edison. Most of the things that we take for granted in the modern world are due to him. Yeah, he was a businessman, but that was the only way to get investors interested in new inventions. And it's not like he wasn't smart. (Edison didn't invent the lightbulb, but he did invent everything needed to make it work). If y'all hate Edison so much, then you need to start by not going to the movies, sell all forms of personal media equipment (cd's, speakers, computer) and get rid of all other electrical devices.

Thomas Eddison was a previous incarnation of Steve Jobs. And the popcorn / hoodie is a rockin' idea. |

Saturday, February 02, 2013 9:31:59 AM @moscoworbust is correct, Edison was a jerk. He'd put an electric motor (DC of course) on that hoodie and claim it was his own invention... |
