Thursday, January 31, 2013 5:39:19 PM She's a black, lady pastor? So who amoung us thought it was an older, white dude? Well, it just goes to show: it takes all kinds of folks to make the world go around! (She says she left a $6 tip on the table, so she scratched it off the bill). |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 4:09:45 PM @whodat6484, it was a party of 10, 5 adults 5 children and the bill was split, this was the pastor's share @kitteh, technically the caption IS incorrect, it indicates that the pastor called applebees and demanded that she (the pastor) be fired. But then I am one picky b@astard. to be fair to this beacon on human compassion, if someone had posted my signature online, I'd expect some repurcussions |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 4:09:36 PM The caption is wrong. According to the article the pastor didn't demand that she was fired. YOU are wrong. Here is the exact quote from the story. Chelsea says the customer who had left the receipt contacted her Applebee’s location, demanding that everyone be fired, from the servers involved to the managers. After reading the interview with the "pastor", I was thrilled to find out she is from my hometown. I have a lot of friends and I'm going to spread the word so we can ruin this bitch. She is a complete f ucking moron and an embarrassment to any church. I hope we can run her sorry ass out of town, this is totally pathetic. Trying to get everyone involved fired because you're a stupid, tightwad bitch? It makes me sick. |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 4:06:07 PM Why is everyone so up in arms about her signature being on the receipt? How many pieces of mail do you get each day with a signature on it? I bet this "pastor" sent out mailing to her congregation and to the local area telling them about her ministry all the time. I also bet that said letters, had her signature on it. A signature isnt near enough information to steal an identity. Now had they posted her credit card information, SSN along with her signature, then there would be a problem. Peoples signatures change all the time. She isnt mad that they posted her signature, she is only mad she got caught being a costco size bottle of douche. |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 3:57:31 PM SarahofBorg, Quoted from the Consumerist which I linked in the credits (they interviewed the girl who was fired and the management): 'Some time on Wednesday, Chelsea says the customer who had left the receipt contacted her Applebee's location, demanding that everyone be fired, from the servers involved to the managers.' Sounds like she demanded it to me. Caption stands. |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 3:54:51 PM Yeah, it's usually added when there are over 5 or 8 people in a party, or if the check is huge from what I remember. A bill that comes out to $35 could very well be just her (she looks like she could pack away that much food) or it's probably just her & someone else ordering off a lunch menu. Either way it's not enough for the tip to be added automatically, the computer takes care of that when they enter the amount of people at the table. @nettech98 - I'm still pretty sure that line means "18% of $34.93 is $6.29" just do the math and you'll see that. (18% of 34.93 = 6.2874) |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 3:38:24 PM The caption is wrong. According to the article the pastor didn't demand that she was fired. She was fired because the receipt was posted on the internet, which is justifiable if she was the one who posted it, which she isn't. So it's all BS. |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 3:36:35 PM @whodat: You are mistaken. The next line is "Adtl Tip" - Additional Tip. That means over and above the 18% they are demanding. Your reasoning that the tip wasn't "automatically added" is that there is no preprinted total. There never is. |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 3:33:18 PM "Pastor" well that's hardly a title hard to gain in the US. I'm an Atheist Brit and i managed to get ordained there even after telling them so. |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 3:22:02 PM Whodat, yeah you're right, my bad. But a lot of restaurants do add a gratuity for parties over X-people. |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 3:04:41 PM @Runemang - the tip was not automatically added. The line on the receipt that says "18% - $6.29" (which is crossed out) is put there to inform the customer that if they leave an 18% tip, which is what people usually do, it would be $6.29, it's just there to make it easier for people who suck at math. Right under that it says "TIP: _____" for the customer to add the tip. |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 3:01:25 PM Correct me if I'm wrong but "tithing" 10% to your church means 10% of your total income, not of a reciept for $35.00. Sorry pastor. Apples and oranges there. How about next time (or every time) you go into a restaurant, the waitress just tells you "The Lord will provide" then walks away. |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 2:50:47 PM jonswan12, the "pastor" is a woman. She tried NOT to tip the 18%, and she got outed like she deserved. As for those claiming the waitress was fired due personal information, the only thing she posted was the signature. Not the name, not anything else. And yes, it was stupid, but, a signature in and of itself wasn't enough. It took a lot of sleuth work on the part of good people who called out this terrible "pastor". |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 2:48:54 PM Wow, okay, I change my opinion from when just the receipt was posted yesterday. There's so much messed up here, lol ... a) Big groups have gratuity automatically put on the bill in MANY restaurants because more often than not the server flogs her guts out and gets a pooty tip. The waitress didn't put down 18%, the computer did. b) The computer MAY not have even LET the waitress remove the 18%. I'm not positive about that. c) the pastor blamed the waitrress and was rude on the receipt d) the waitress was a dumbass for not at LEAST cropping out the signature (I would have been livid too). e) the pastor didn't "get the girl fired" because of the 18% tip, the girl got fired for posting the receipt on the internet with the customer's signature. This is a whole lotta stupid for one story. |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 2:41:57 PM The article got it all wrong. It implies that he didn't tip. He DID tip; 18% to be exact. That's what was automatically added to the bill because he was part of a big group. He just didn't leave an additional tip, like most people don't; there is nothing wrong with that. He was merely expressing his concern that the waiter gets an auto tip of %18 when he only gives God 10%. It is comical that he feels one would have anything to do with the other, but the preist is not technically a tight wad because he did in fact leave a tip. |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 2:41:55 PM so were two people fired or one? it says that the waitress (who was separate from the server) was fired, but what about the server herself...sure she got shafted (maybe...depends if the cash tip was really left or not), but the tip being charged to the credit card was an extra unauthorised charge (not much but still) *shrugs* ambiguity in the writting |

Thursday, January 31, 2013 2:34:50 PM When did this women feel like what she did was wrong? Did she feel bad after she stiffed the server? No. Did she feel bad after she complained and got the server fired? No. Did she feel bad after she got outed on the internet for being a bitch? Yes. Then and only then was she sorry for what she did. Isn't there some saying about "Don't do anything that would embarrass you to do in front of your mom or god"? She was embarrassed because she got caught. You would think she would be sympathetic to someone keeping their job since she was homeless. I guess not since she got the girl fired.
