So, because it takes some time, they should be allowed to immigrate illegally? Makes sense.

Yes. Finally no one will work and we will finally be able to rule the world!!

No one is going to just be taking handouts. The handouts still suck compared to living in a super mansion on a small island you bought.

11,000,000 illegals made legal under this administration=11,000,000 more democratic votes in urban areas. Multiply that by the amount of children had in the future by one of the most prolific cultures(mexicans), all of whom will also be in urban areas, equaling more electoral votes, more mouths dependent on our countries handouts, moving us much closer to this administrations goal of socialism/marxism. There will not be a way to defeat the "democratic"/marxist party.

We are the third most populace country on earth with 313,000,000 legal residents. You want to let even more in just be prepared for one-child-only birth laws, higher taxes, and even pootier healthcare.

I don't mind immigrants, in my opinion, they are usually better workers that whine less. If we made a law to exile people who don't pay taxes or have been on welfare for an extended period of time, even if they are US citizens, I think we might have something. A real capitalist country, we could trade Mexico and Europe their hard workers for our welfare rats and government moochers, then everyone could be happy.

I was born in Europe and my dad is a US citizen through his mother (my grandmother): took me like a week to get my own US passport at the embassy...

The fact that this left off educational visas and the route to citizenship that many students take makes me not trust it to much.

In addition, just trying to convince me to grant amnesty to those that did not follow the rules because I think the rules should change is a bit of red herring to me. Just because I think the speed limit should be 80 not 70 does not mean that I do not support issuing tickets to those driving 75.

I am in full support of granting citizenship to all immigrants, because if I ever need to do the same, I'd want to be accepted, too.

@Crucified

This country was founded on walking in someone's homeland and taking their crap. This is the America way. Maybe we shouldn't have let the Europeans in here? Seems to have gone to crap ever since since they own everything now.

I don't get why American citizens want to let any and everybody to walk in this country.

I think perhaps it started with "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free" since the US is a country of immigrants. I don't think so many people want to let just *anybody* in, but I'd take pride in knowing my country is so nice that lots of people want to get in, and I wouldn't treat those that are trying legally to do so like 2nd class citizens just because they want in.

I don't get why American citizens want to let any and everybody to walk in this country. Right after you say you love neoimmigrants tell me how we need to fund education and healthcare and end starvation in our inner-cities. You people are so backwards. On a side note, just out of curiosity how many developed countries have open immigration policies. I don't know the answer, but maybe you should look it up.

Regardless of the accuracy of this chart, the fact remains that the USA is a sovereign nation and foreigner have no right to come in. It is a priviledge granted under our terms. If a foreigner does not like the terms of the arrangement, they are freee to abstain from it.

STFU and get in line if you want in so bad, otherwise, you are an enemy invader and should be treated as hostile since you have no respect for our laws.

Good to know.. I have slight chance of working for a xxx company R&D, located in California (sorry, R&D likes to keep secrets...) Fortunately i can do it from here but just organizing the inevitable on-location application phase of the project sounds horribly complicated to arrange..

davymid: You have education, skill, a spouse and child. I'm sure you'll be a genuine Canadian a'boot the time you get a taste for poutine and wear a tuque regularly. Until then just grab a 2-4 and watch hockey when you can.

It's standard supply/demand ecomonics.

Thus Uncle Sam needs to stop minding everyone's business.

So we can get a whole new crop of 30 million more undermining pay scales and the standard of living.

That is a myth perpetuated by big labor. Immigrants are better suited for certain roles than Americans and vice versa. Thus they do NOT supplement American labor they complement it. As for the "took our jobs hysteria" there that which is seen and that which is unseen. Obviously an illegal has been employed it DOES NOT follow that it means less of an opportunity for an American.

Besides, living as illegals they don't pay payroll taxes.

So let's change the requirements, you don't pay payroll taxes you're not eligible. What if you become disabled? You get reduced benefits.

"there’s also a missed opportunity for the U.S.: many of these foreign students would prefer to stay and put their skills to work here after they graduate, but they can’t get work visas. What’s more, studies estimate that hundreds of thousands of highly skilled immigrants already working here find themselves stuck in immigration limbo for years, waiting for visa and green-card applications to be approved. These are well-educated, motivated workers who want to play for our side. Yet we’re making it difficult for them to do so."

@Gerry:

"The data shows that since fiscal year 2008, the agency has issued 15% fewer H-1B high-skilled worker visas than the law requires. This has deprived American businesses of thousands fewer high-skilled workers needed for the economic recovery."

Canada's system is no less convoluted. I'm a skilled worker with postgraduate degrees, working in an undersupplied industry that Canadians can't fill, working for the Canadian Government under sponsorship, and also my wife and daughter are Canadian. Been here 3 years so far with all of that, and I'm still 5 years away from Canadian citizenship.
