Good for him. And good that he lives in a time when he can, if he chooses, do that. If I'd done that in high school 3 things would have happened; A: School would have kicked me out immediately. B: Kids would have kicked my ass as soon as I got outside. C: My dad would have thrown me out of the house to live on the streets. Good for him. |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 9:32:43 PM So is it a problem if I say this is retarded? I know there are people out there who still need to get over this - the numbers say so. I just don't know any of them. |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 8:02:11 PM Glad he feels better. That speech probably shocked 1% of the listeners. |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 6:27:56 PM You know this used to brave 5 years ago but now it's just tacky and obtuse. High school sucks for everyone and we need to stop telling teens these are the best years of their life. |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 6:27:32 PM markust123 - And how do you know he's "talented", though? Based on what? The award? Terrible actors have won awards. Because of his speech? To which I'd have to say bull ****. That doesn't make someone a talented actor. |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 3:52:26 PM I want equality for all the wrong reasons I guess. @Toider: lolz! I'm in the same boat! I bravely admit: Japanese Girls Make Me So Horney! It's in my DNA! I was born this way! It's perfectly natural! Evolutionarily valid sexual orientation: JGMMSH |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 3:33:45 PM I personally can't wait for the day that this is no longer considered interesting or post-worthy so that I don't have to be exposed to these pointless non-events. I want equality for all the wrong reasons I guess. |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 3:20:58 PM Nova666-" indeed hes brave" jdee89-"amazingly brave" He's not 'brave'. He's an attention seaking whore. NO ONE CARES!!! It's his business. He probably posts what he had for breakfast on facebook everyone morning too. People don't care who YOU are attracted to, who 'I' am attracted to and who HE is attracted to. He just wants everyone to know he's 'special', because he want's to FEEL 'special'. Sorry, he's not special. The fact that he likes balls in the face does not make him special. |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 3:15:44 PM This is why people like him are brave. From Richard Blanco, the gay poet at Obama's inauguration. That is what they deal with every day, and why he should be lauded for stepping out of the closet. I too wish him all the best, and a wonderful husband someday to boot. |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 3:09:38 PM Why is he brave? If they're equal now and I stand up and announce I am straight, will that make me a hero? |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 3:08:37 PM I know I'll probably catch a lot of crap for this, but when I was in high school, I never really had the strong urge to get up in front of everyone, and confess... "Friends... I'm attracted to persian women with big boobs"... I'm just not sure this is the appropriate venue, or the right audience... why do people feel its so important to "declare to the world" their sexuality and lifestyle choices... they are YOURS. I COULD CARE LESS... I'M TOO BUSY DEALING WITH MINE. |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 2:57:51 PM Good for this guy - amazingly brave. Don't like the word "admit" in the caption though - it's too weighted with the idea that anything outside the heternormative is something to be guilty of. |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 2:57:09 PM "No long-term good comes of making a big deal of something like this." I know. How dare this talented actor make a positive role model out of himself for other LGBT teens. I for one am so damn proud of kids like this that have the courage to stand up for themselves. I only recommend it though if you know your school is safe. |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 2:25:43 PM He's all four? Is that when you're born male, become female, and shag / get shagged by anything with any number of X and Y chromosomes at all points on your journey? Seriously, though, if there's one piece of advice I'd give to any young adult it's never to get engaged or reveal you gender/sexual orientation peculiarities in public like this. It may feel cathartic at the time, but honestly, people don't give nearly as much of a damn about your personal shyt as you might think. No long-term good comes of making a big deal of something like this. |

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 2:17:00 PM For the people saying 'who cares' it's good that you're accepting but keep in mind that a lot of people worldwide have beef with anything other than heterosexuality. I think the more people come out, loud and proud, the closer we get to most people saying 'who cares'. Being closeted about something as important as sexual orientation (or gender identity) cannot be good for your emotional well being. Being able to be who and what you are freely sounds like a basic human right. |
