Musuko42-"We ARE dealing it, like anyone should when someone gives them crap: by fighting back."

He wasn't fighting back. He was attempting to make himself feel special.

You want to fight back? Try to legalize gay marriage. THAT will have an effect, not this attention whore stating 'I won this and I'm gay, so I'm doubly special'.

Musuko42-"Would you have told Rosa Parks to go sit in the back, shut up, and "deal with it"?"

Actually, what Rosa Parks did WAS DEAL WITH IT. She didn't stand up, accept an award and say 'btw..I'm black'.

Musuko42-"sit in silent misery and not speak out about anything that's doing you wrong."

Nope, I deal with it. I see no need to announce that fact in attempt to feel special.

"His video was posted because he decided to announce it at an inappropriate time as if it makes a difference."

His audience gave him a STANDING OVATION.

By exactly what logic do you consider something innappropriate if the entire audience of what you are doing STANDS UP AND APPLAUDS YOU?!

"On the other hand, I find anyone who wants to BRAG about themselve in an attempt to make themselves seem 'special' extremely annoying."

He's an ACTOR.

What on earth were you expecting?

Musuko42-"You seem to care enough to be having this conversation."

Seem to have a reading comprehension problem, do you? (obviously).

I don't care if bangs chicks, guys, blow-up dolls or goats.

On the other hand, I find anyone who wants to BRAG about themselve in an attempt to make themselves seem 'special' extremely annoying.

You may note that we are not discussing his sexual orientation, but the fact that he announces to the world that he thinks he's special because of it.

His video was not posted because he IS gay. MANY people are. His video was posted because he decided to announce it at an inappropriate time as if it makes a difference.

"3) you ARE annoying."

Funnily enough, not many people care whether you are annoyed by it. Nobody is making you watch, nobody is making you listen, nobody is making you participate.

This isn't about you.

Because, you know, you're really not that special either.

"We will respond that NO BODY CARES"

You seem to care enough to be having this conversation.

Don't you have anything better to do than argue with a stranger about something you don't care about?

Hmm?

"People would find that as annoying as someone announcing 'And by the way, and even though you don't care and it has nothing to do with the conversation...I'M GAY'."

That isn't what happened. He made his speech, and his audience gave him a standing ovation.

So...why don't you identify exactly who found it annoying? Except for you...and you weren't even there, and nobody made you watch this video.

"Just because you catch crap because you're gay does not make you any more special than someone who catches crap because they talk funny, look funny or can't quote stats on every NBA player."

My god, you really are a failure aren't you?

How are you not able to see that ALL of those things shouldn't happen, and should most definitely be spoken against and fought against?

Someone fighting his own personal battle isn't claiming that their fight is more worthy than anyone else's.

If you want to be a cynical little defeatest and throw your hands up at all the bad things in the world and decry anyone who tries to do something about making the bad things...you know...simply not happen any more, feel free.

But don't sling mud at those who are actually trying to change things for the better.

And note, he got a standing ovation...do you think, perhaps then, that his speech WAS appropriate for that place, if his

Musuko42-"And we have a right to be for it, and to do things like openly come out and talk about it."

Yes, you have that right. No one said you didn't.

You also have the right stand in the middle of any park you want and continually sing "I'm a little tea pot". People would find that as annoying as someone announcing 'And by the way, and even though you don't care and it has nothing to do with the conversation...I'M GAY'.

We will respond that NO BODY CARES and point out that:
1) it has nothing to do with the conversation other than to make you the centerpoint in your own little mind
2)you are not special &
3) you ARE annoying.

Musuko42-"Check and effing mate."

It's sad that you actually think that.

"Deal with it."

Again, we are...by changing things. Or at least attempting to. Perhaps not always in the best ways, but none of us are perfect.

Would you have told Rosa Parks to go sit in the back, shut up, and "deal with it"?

God, you sound like such a wimp, willing to just let yourself sit in silent misery and not speak out about anything that's doing you wrong.

Oh, you're not like that? You DO speak out and fight back? So why complain so bitterly about other people doing it?

What exactly is your beef?

You know...other than "I think gays are icky", which we all know is the REAL reason you're complaining.

I'm soooo sorry that you have to witness the fight. It must be such a strain on your delicate soul to have to watch a bunch of gay people fight off the attacks of bigots. I'll start a donation drive to help you out in your distress.

Gerry1of1-"So yeah, there is a segue there.'

A force seque of a guy who want more attention. He was EVEN MORE 'special' because he is gay.

Gerry1of1-"So yes, "who you love" does have a place in the social order of high school."

As does 'Football Jock vs. Band Geek'.
As does 'Cheerleader vs. Emo chick.'
As does 'Honor Roll vs. Remedial'.
As does 'Cool Kid with Coold Car vs. Kid on Bus.'

Deal with it. His gayness does not make him special, does not mean he's suffered more than everyone else and should not receive a standing ovation.

In fact, has no place at the award ceremony.

"And neither have a place at a high-school awards ceremony"

It was an "acting" award so he spoke of how he had to "act" differant to his nature every day. So yeah, there is a segue there.

A boy dates a girl automatically accepted.
A boy wants to take a boy to prom and SCANDAL!
So yes, "who you love" does have a place in the social order of high school.

jtrebowski-"One would thing that a homosexual like yourself would be more sympathetic."

That may come as a schock to my wife. (and no one has to be sympathetic to an attention whore, no matter what their sexual orientation).

Gerry1of1-"Orientation is about who you love, not who you f*ck."

And neither have a place at a high-school awards ceremony.

I'd have still called him an attention whore if he got up there and stated 'I just banged the homecoming queen last night.'

He just want's to feel 'special'.

"If everyone would keep their sex lives to themselves, no one would notice"

Being gay isn't about having sex. Neither is being straight.

Take straight guy who's celebate. He hasn't had sex, but he's still heterosexual. Orientation is about who you love, not who you f*ck.

Musuko42-"What world have you been living in?!"

The real world, where 99% of the people don't give a s&[t.

Musuko42-"what is said in churches across the world"

So churches are against it? It's a free country, they have a right to be against it, don't go to those churches. Do YOU go to a church that has different beliefs than you?

99% of the beople don't give a f*ck.

"So is it a problem if I say this is retarded?"

Yes, because "retarded" is an offensive term that makes you sound like an ignorant child.

And by problem, I'll clarify; it's a problem for YOU, because sounding like an ignorant child isn't going to do you many favours in life.

"People don't care who YOU are attracted to, who 'I' am attracted to and who HE is attracted to."

What world have you been living in?! People DO care. Have you not paid any attention to politics or what is said in churches across the world?

FFS, have you not even noticed the Westboro Baptists? THEY care who other people are attracted to. And they're people. Barely.

People DO care, and they care enough to treat other people like crap because of it.

"If they're equal now and I stand up and announce I am straight, will that make me a hero?"

They're not equal. Not yet. And that's the point. That's why people still need to stand up and speak.

Imagine yourself being a white person saying this against Rosa Parks; "would I get labelled a hero if I sat at the front of a bus and refused to move?"

THAT is how you sound to us now.

"Makes me wonder if I would've gotten a standing ovation if I had taken to time to announce that I did, in fact, find myself attracted to vaginas and breasts."

If you lived in an environment where that made you a minority, and a hounded, belittled and abused minority no less, then yes you would get a standing ovation by being brave enough to openly reveal what you are.

"Go back to the closet a-hole. no-one does a coming out event for being straight."

Yes they do. It's called a wedding. It happens all the time. It's as public as public gets.
