Friday, January 25, 2013 10:44:42 PM I got a flu shot this year and in spite of being around a lot of people sick with the flu, I have not gotten sick ( knock on wood).. My husband however has gotten sick from the flu this year and he did not get his flu shot..I am a healthcare worker and it is a good idea for people like me who work in healthcare to get one. I would rather be safe than sorry. I also recieved it while I was still pregnant *gasp* so that my child could get some of the immunities from it..I'm also very big on good hand washing. I'm thankful for the flu shot I recieved this year, too many scary stories from people with children I know that did not take the flu vaccine.. They all ended up in the e.r. or worse in the hospital.. |

Friday, January 25, 2013 8:34:30 AM I never get the flu shot anymore. I've gotten the flu once in the past 5 years... about the same rate that I'd expect to get the flu with the shot. Besides, the flu shot is no guarantee. The flu virus evolves every year, which is why not only does a simple dose of Vit C not work for the flu as it would have many years ago, but new flu shots come out each year. Furthermore, it's just a shot in the dark. Out of two or three real possible viruses that cause the yearly flu, they only chose the 'most likely' one that you'll have, and that's the one they create immunities for. So Coyote I'm not sure about your percentages, but you've got the right idea. Not to mention all the sugarwater and saline that companies have been caught giving people. You gotta ask yourself, if the shots are for free, then what's their other motive for getting this stuff in your body? What's in it? And twinkle, I totally agree on your point too. |

Thursday, January 24, 2013 7:19:07 PM I've noticed many places offering free flu shots. I'm EXTREMELY suspicious of any pharmaceutical company giving away that much product.. |

Thursday, January 24, 2013 12:21:13 PM Gerry, Gerry, Gerry, you have it all wrong. The radiation injection is to give us all cancer so that big pharma can charge us all for treatment. Tracking is handled by hitting each individual who goes through the airport scanners with their own signature or radiation. Big Pharma worked with the TSA to come up with the technology. Friggin amateurs always get their conspiracies wrong. |

It's not really a flu shot. The government is injecting you with experimental drugs to make you more obedient. Also, radioactive chemicals to track you.

Thursday, January 24, 2013 8:52:13 AM I stopped getting flu shots over a decade ago and haven't gotten the flu since. Besides, doesn't the flu shot that comes out every year really only help about 1% of the people that get it? I think there was a video on here about that if anyone can dig it up (as I'm too lazy right now and really should be working instead....) |

Thursday, January 24, 2013 8:34:50 AM @McGovern: Some people have more side effects than others. Lucky you! As long as you're a healthy adult under the age of 50 you don't really need one, unless you're worried about spreading it to others, and although I may be incorrect, I don't think that concerns you. If I were you I'd skip it. Heck, I'm technically listed under "compromised immune function" and can get my shot before most people up here but I never get it and I haven't had the flu in years. |

Thursday, January 24, 2013 7:48:51 AM I am skeptical of these flu vaccines. every time I got one I got the flu worse than if I just caught it from the air. Ever notice how many places are pushing them now for "free?" Someones paying for it and someones getting alot of money from it. |

Thursday, January 24, 2013 7:47:17 AM GSK may be a British multi-national company, but the ingredients for this drug were distilled from the concentrated essence of US tv soaps |

Thursday, January 24, 2013 6:47:17 AM @Gerry: My mistake. I agree with you, except for children and the elderly, as they're the only ones really who die from the flu. |

@ patchgrabber - well, I was referring more to catching the flu, not getting narcolepsy. That sounds way too inconvenient. Imagine trying to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz |

Thursday, January 24, 2013 6:25:08 AM The normal rate of Narcolepsy is stated in the article as 200-500 / million, and they are concerned about 795 from over 30 million vaccinations? It seems to me that this H1N1 vaccine could be considered as a narcolepsy preventive measure. |

Thursday, January 24, 2013 5:58:19 AM @Gerry: In many cases, yes. However a study done at Stanford has found increased incidence of narcolepsy in chinese patients following upper respiratory infection i.e. H1N1. It's believed that narcolepsy is an autoimmune response, and increased immune response could initiate it. However this vaccine has a few adjuvants that increase immune response, so perhaps that is the problem in Europe. |

Isn't it supposed to be good for you to get sick once in a while? You know, exercise the imune system so it can fight things off. Just a question. |
