Wednesday, January 23, 2013 12:42:29 AM Yeah. If it's not society's responsibility to provide any of that then I'd like my taxes back, Judge. |

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 11:09:25 PM Judging from the results of the last election, I'd say a slight majority of people have failed to grasp these concepts. |

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 9:44:00 PM "But it's not my "moral obligation" to line the pockets of people who do things I never asked them to do. " You live in a society that decided that you were going to get everything you needed to become a productive human being as an adult, not because society gives a crap about your happiness but because it's your responsibility to continue to improve the lives of the rest of the human race in the same way yours was improved by those who came before you. If you choose not to become a productive adult, and you choose to become a burden on society, you decided that you're going to be happy and healthy at the expense of the human race. You could choose to be miserable and starving, or a productive person, if you care about the human race at all. You could also choose to be a selfish entitled jerk if you're OK with being a cancer on society. |

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 9:26:07 PM This is kind of stupid. You can't build a raft, get a job, or learn to cook without studying, so that's all just a redundant way of saying "study more," which is of course another of his options given. Basically he's saying that bored kids need to study more and do more chores. Pretty much the only possibly entertaining thing he says is build a raft, which is pointless if you don't live anywhere near a public river or pond, like most city kids, and also kind of crappy if it's 10 degrees out. You can also read for hours, which is never going to burn off any physical energy, and isn't much more productive than watching TV for hours on end. I do agree any kids who are turning criminal out of boredom should find something productive to do instead, but he sure didn't list anything they could do for entertainment. |

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 9:12:06 PM Sorry Liindsayy, as someone who taught high school for 30 years I've seen a marked change in students. I'm amazed at how immature and narcissistic they've (not you personally) have become. In some ways it's not their fault, their parents and teachers were obsessed with self esteem. Simultaneously our media became celebrity obsessed and reality TV severely lowered the threshold for celebrity. |

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 8:37:51 PM This doesnt just apply to today's youth, it applies to ALL youth. I hate that people keep bashing our generation when in reality, every generation just looks down on the one that comes after it. |

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 8:22:03 PM Bremir, you're a glittering jewel of colossal ignorance. Have fun watching your continent burn to the ground around your sorry ass. P.S. When it does, it will be YOUR fault. |

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 7:54:59 PM Andrew155 - To be fair, I never asked to be born. As far as I am concerned, no I don't owe the world anything at all. I'm not to blame that people decided to use these "finite" resources to give us power and heating, I never asked them to do that. As far as it being my moral obligation? Bull. Hey, you can go ahead and call me immoral of you want. But it's not my "moral obligation" to line the pockets of people who do things I never asked them to do. |

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 6:42:09 PM You can owe yourself a living and owe the world something at the same time, dontchya know. Why do you owe the world something. Using up all that tax money, using up a finite amount of resources the world has. It's a moral obligation. |

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 6:35:50 PM ... and then instead of doing any of those "up his own butt" suggestions... the teenagers to out, form gangs with one and other, then start to battle each other for imaginary control. One of the worse teens introduce drugs into that environment, and then we have a atmosphere of death & addiction formed. Thanks judge! |

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 6:10:26 PM The world doesn't owe you anything, but the piece is wrong when it says you owe the world something. You owe YOURSELF a living. |
