I don't understand near enough about music, but our elementary school music teacher did this kind of thing on the piano: the major version of a tune would sound like a a happy summer song and the minor one like a dirge. It was one lesson I remembered. |

That's why the majority of blues & rock based music is played using minor scales. The note progression in a major scale sounds happier, if you flatten the 3rd, 5th, & 7th notes of a major scale you get what is called the "blue note" |

Key vice scale. Very cool concept, but, in this case, for me, anyway, the song loses all of its depth and angst (which, of course, is part of the flavor playing in a minor key can give you). |
