Hmmn...I guess if you compare car parking vs cycle parking...yer right? I ride a fuhchinh bike everywhere. This is a much better garage then one that holds less.

Still the video smells like BULL pooE! Bring it into real world practice...JUST LIKE BURNING A GODDAMN CAR OFF INTO HELL. YOU PEOPLE DON'T KNOW JACK ABOUT 'FOOT PRINT'. ...and it shows!

"it's not like it's destroying anymore of the natural wildlife"

Earthworm habitat?

If the weather is so bad you need to park your bike indoors then how much fun was it to ride the bike there in the first place?

Thanks, but I'll keep my car. I have a bicycle too - i enjoy riding it on occasion but it is not good as a primary means of transportation.

Oh ya, and public transportation (where I live at least) is totally worthless. It is only used by people with too many DUI convictions as far as I can tell.

They really DO live underwater there - I thought it was just what I was smoking. Wow.

"Amsterdam needs these"
If you dig a hole in Amsterdam all the city will sink. They live under the water level.

The footprint compared with underground carpark for same number of vehicles, and the fuel involved in running the vehicles? Not to mention the impact of greater health in the population?

I honestly doubt it leaves much of a footprint at all, it's put into an area that has already been let's say "urbanized" so it's not like it's destroying anymore of the natural wildlife, I doubt it's using gas or any fossil fuels to power it so it doesn't release any pollutants. and in a way it's actually encouraging people to ride bikes..

Can you imagine the 'footprint' such an experiment takes on the enviroment? FOR BICYCLES?

This "Eco cycle" is not in the sense of ecology but rather economy. Using bicycles is ecologically helpful, this storage facility is economically profitable. The marketing hopes you will conflate the two.

Looked kinda empty! On a bad day you get A TOY STORY rusty trike, on a good day you get your bike. BUT ON A GREAT DAY you get ALBERTO CONTADOR's ride? Computers/software have a way of making this true...in every way.

5Cats, it might end up being a money maker - depends on how many people pay the monthly rate, and how often it's used. Much preferable to parking it outside. I saw 4-5 of those "terminals" in that one shot, so that's 800-1000 bikes out of sight, and allowing for more space to be used, which is at a premium in Japanese cities.

When a typical bike rack of about the size of the area of the terminal would hold maybe 10-12 (provided someone's not a jerk and locks it to the rack sideways, so no one else can use it), that's about what, an 8000% increase in bike parking? And now it can be charged for, instead of being free.

That is awesome! I wish we had them here...
I want these too: http://www.trampe.no/media/trampehigh.mpg (It's pretty hilly here - I know a few streets that could use them).

Genius! Not a "money maker" but good for the city it's in.

Who's the anime girl on his shirt?

That's brilliant! We could definitely use some of them in the states.

Its actually more about space and clutter. Municipal train stations typically have hundreds upon hundreds of bicycles left every day that cause lots of disruption in the streets.
