Tuesday, January 15, 2013 1:59:05 PM A fairly cynical view might be that allowing people euthanasia (in valid cases, not all) might prevent suicide attempts that go horribly wrong. (either leaving the persons trying it as a vegetable or limbless, which has happened with people throwing themselves in front of a train and surviving; or taking others with them in their attempt.) |

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 1:57:17 PM @+Crakrjak: really? No pain? Being deaf and blind and knowing it will happen? Granted, it's not like they are entirely cut off from the outside world, but it's darn near close to it. That's enough mental anguish to count as chronic pain imo.

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 1:57:09 PM It is their life and if they choose to die that is solely their decision. Having watched my mother suffer for 6 years before finally leaving this world in silence I have to say yes....it should be allowed. |

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 1:54:25 PM I agree that this video is annoying, but yes, this should be allowed. Perhaps if the law didn't allow them go safely, they would have taken measures into their own hands, perhaps hurting someone else, and at the very least may have caused some sort of trauma to those who came upon two guys who committed suicide. |

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 1:44:37 PM An annoying video, but of course- if a person wishes to die, is mentally rational, able to make decisions then it is their choice. So we either permit it, or they do it anyway.... it is not for me to decide when another person finds life intolerable... |

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 1:34:35 PM The laws on suicide stem for some medievel religious notion that it is a 'sin'. There are no laws that you can write to keep someone from suicide. And there is no written definition that says in order to commit suicide you have to be in chronic physical pain. The pain of living half a life can be enough for someone to say enough is enough. Go judge yourselves. |

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 1:00:26 PM Yes..this should be allowed . What sane person wouldn't choose death over years and years and years of pain? Also...the people that say this should not be allowed should be shot in the eye. I mean..you can kill yourself in so many ways and every time it's a tragedy for the family (because if you say you'll do it they will put you in a "protective" confinement) but if you choose to say good bye and stuff..it's illegal. Does that make any sense? |

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 12:53:08 PM This was sad and sickening. There was no 'terminal' illness or chronic pain involved. Next thing, they'll be suicide booths on street corners. |

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 12:48:02 PM Yes, it should be. How would you stop them anyway? |

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 12:46:27 PM It's irrelevant whether or not they should be able to. The government isn't capable of stopping them if they want to. Therefore, it's a decision with your doctor and family. It's the same as abortion. The government isn't capable of regulating as many things as you guys think. |
