I don't think the founding fathers had the intention of allowing people to shoot Judges, or other representatives...
And how many times has someone fired a gun at a federal judge or lawyer and in doing so gotten out of jail time?
The Colonists didn't fire muskets at the King of England, yet they somehow managed to secure their freedom. |

Two people can disagree, even if what you say is true, just because you feel the actions are not good doesn't make them wrong, they may just have different views on what is good. That is a finer point though, I actually think you are just nuts so little point having reasoned debate.
That's what people do when they can't disagree with what you say, finker: first they say you're wrong, then they say you're bad, then they say you must be nuts. Sooner or later, though, Americans are going to have to grow up and realise that with 25% of the world's prisoners and only 5% of the world's population they either live in the most criminally-inclined nation in the world or the most prosecutorially corrupt. Guess which the rest of the world thinks it is? Your justice system is so corrupt it cost this young man his life. And that's what's nuts. |

If I remeber correctly we fought a war against a corrupt and abusive system somewhere in the 1700's, and the second thing we did after securing the rights of freedom of speech and religion was ensure that the people would have the means to resist a corrupt and abusive system. |

@finker: you're right, China and the other countries you mentioned *are* corrupt. The main difference, though, from my perspective is that a majority of Chinese people I speak with recognise their State is corrupt and many are actively involved in criticising their leaders. Most Americans I speak with, by contrast, seem deluded into believing that their country's actions are mostly good, and that every poor sod that ends up imprisoned and persecuted by the US government must be a "criminal" that deserves what has happened to them. In reality, I come across all too many cases like Aaron Swartz : people that face draconian punishments for frankly trivial matters. For some of them, sadly they feel taking their own lives is the only way to escape the prosecutorial misconduct the US 'Justice' system inflicts upon them. |

The issue here isn't the justice system itself, rather, it's an overzealous prosecutor and The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, which is from 1986 and is far too broad and open to misuse by prosecutors. |

Believe me in what I've been saying about how corrupt and abusive America's 'justice' system is now, IAB? You may not like what I say or how I say it, but literally millions of your fellow Americans have discovered to their cost that whilst your government, courts and police are happy to cover up crimes by the State up to and including murder, torture and forced disappearance (and our European governments seem happy to help them), at the same time young men like this face 35 years for what amounts to annoying the big businesses that keep those corrupt governments in power. It's no wonder that groups like Anonymous exist. |
