I have a hypothetical moral question for you.

If someone designed a non lethal bullet that would instantly incapacitate anyone hit with it whether with some sort of shock or biological or chemical agent, would you support outlawing all other bullets?

A gun's sole function is to be as dangerous as possible.

Someone really dropped the ball designing the .22 LR then.

Ban all guns in the US- a month long amnesty then anyone AT ALL with a gun, ammunition, or any accoutrements gets ten years... sorted. Then you have to use knives.

Think they tried that around 1776 didn't work out so well.

okay- so if tank were legal they would certainly ensure the driver was safe. Shame about anything around him- roads. people etc. So I wonder why you don't get to drive a tank...

"If that were true they'd blow up in your face whenever you pull the trigger."

Sometimes you say such stupid things that I feel I shouldn't waste time talking to you.

When you shoot someone the gun has two parties involved, the shooter and the shootee. Guns go through innovations to be as dangerous to the shootee as possible. That is their purpose. Whether it is bump stocks, or sniper scopes, or armor piercing bullets or 100 round barrel magazines. A gun's sole function is to be as dangerous as possible.

A car on the other hand is designed so that if you do hit someone else with it the damage is as minimal as possible. There are even some cars innovations like airbags on the hood in case you hit a pedestrian.

Also the Fort Bragg shooter used a pistol I belive so how's an "assualt weapon" ban going to help?

Is it legal to drive a tank? Oh- Fort Bragg was it? Okay- not usually armed- but I assume you would think soldiers were well trained in defence- and I bet they had arms but perhaps just not attached to them? Possibly the gunman caught them by surprise? Possibly a gunman can kill people from - ooh I dunno- about 50 foot away??? How long do you think it takes for ANY security to stop being quite so wary- a week or so I guess- tops.

"We don't go trying to ban specific models of cars from ownership from sober drivers though now do we?"

Yes. Yes we do.

There are lots of cars that aren't street legal. Cars have regulators that keep them from going too fast. Cars have seatbelts and air bags mandatory. They have collapsible bodies. Tons of them have back up sensors and rear video.

Stop bringing up cars. Cars go through innovations and testing to be as safe as possible. Guns do the EXACT opposite. They go through innovations and testing to be as dangerous as possible.

Fort Bragg soldiers on base are usually not armed when not in training or gaurd duty. So really the only armed person was the gunman.

This was a cop assigned to a school, not a teacher packing heat like you morons said we should have after sandy hook.

"A School Resource Officer (SRO) is a law enforcement officer who is assigned to either an elementary, middle, or high school."

I have not heard a single person say we should stop schools from having a police officer on site.

However, once again, republicans won't tax enough to buy books or pay teachers, are they going to raise taxes to hire full time police officers?

"So you blame guns for shootings, but not cars for DWIs or knives for stabbings"

Who blames guns? I have never heard that once.

We want to keep guns away from people that shouldn't own them. I believe we try to keep drunk drivers out of cars don't we? Suspended licenses, impounded cars, ignition interlock brethelyzers.

Nice catch on this article there wiscesq

I thought this comment bears repeating:

1.) This story appears to be from 2010.
2.) It wasn't school staff that pulled a gun on the gunman, it was a police officer that had been assigned to the school as a resource officer.

Will the story from 2010 get nation-wide coverage in 2013? I'm going to go with "no." Probably did at the time, though.

That is from 2010? Why act like it happened yesterday?

And if you people can't see the other side of the argument, it is because you are blinding yourself to logic and reason.

Comparing apples to oranges never makes sense except in a strictly economic sense.

Talk about cars dwi's and all the other stupid crap all you want, it simply serves to erode your argument's foundation due to it's severe lack of relevance.

But keep going, it amuses me.

" In debates like this when I say "gun-control supporters" I'm referring to the most vocal advocates being the ones screaming to ban all firearms from private ownership. You should know that by now since that seems to be the only thing ever discussed on this f*cking website."

I think we both know that the people on this website don't represent the vast majority of people in the real world, though. I rarely hear calls to ban all guns here in the U.S..

@patchgrabber

SO in one case it saved at least one life and probably bought other some time. So it dosen't work and we shouldn't use it???

To claim that a mass shooting was prevented is pure speculation.
