Yeah, F--k him, I like alcohol, but if he's going to annoy the crap out of sober, well- behaved passengers who can't get off the plane to avoid him, then so be it. I think this method should also apply to crying babies and boring, over-sharing strangers. |

I wanna se video of him acting up. I mean, however he was behaving it musta been pretty extreme for the crew to resort to this to control him. I almost feel sorry for him... but not quite! |

@drawman61 - In a case like this I'm sure it's legal. If there's a possibility he can injure someone you can restrain him until the police show up. |

But on a serious note, is that even legal?

1. You would be restrained as well.
2. yes, it is legal under several International conventions. The pilot can use whatever methods he/she deems appropriate to restrain an out of control passenger. The downside is, under the montreal convention, nobody may cause injury to the passenger unless he is endangering the lives of others. |

They didn't tape his mouth but I would have to shut him up. If there was an emergency they could get him free fast enough. There aren't a lot of emergencies on a plane that you survive, getting off quickly probably wouldn't matter much. |

Any of you questioning the necessity of this need to take a step back. All you have to do to avoid this consequence is not be an A hole. He did this to himself with just a little help from people who weren't going to put up with his crap for all of a 2000 mile flight. |

On board were probably some hundred grownup non drunk persons. When they decided to take a measure as drastic as this, it was probably necessary.
I can image half a dozen young drunk guys taping the most drunk of them just for fun, but i can not imagine an airplane crew and the passengers asking themselves "Who of us is drunk, so how about doing a duct tape prank on him."
If i were that guy, i would not dare to sue anybody. |

@ McThstlpnts - I guess he was spitting on people. I thought the same thing though - what if he had to vomit, he could have choked to death. Watching this, I almost feel sorry for the guy. |
