Fml is probably right. There are several playground sings in two languages, they got mixed up. Doing that on purpose would be mad. |

What's the official laguage used in the US for governement verbage?
The USA doesn't have an official language. It wasn't thought necessary. Now it's far too much of a political issue for any action to be taken (unless the USA is successfully conquered by settlement and Spanish becomes the official language as a result).
Someone put up a standard school park sign in a public park by mistake. It's only an issue because some people can use it as a political tool to either help the conquest or gain power/publicity/money for themselves directly. |

You should come to Quebec, where we have the worst language laws to protect the French language. Not allowed to have outdoor English signs, even for safety notices, and indoor signs require French to be twice the size of English. |

Be glad the United States does not have an official language just a de facto. Despite knowing both English and Spanish I would have still turned around, I'm not getting a ticket. |

It reads like one of those Engrish translations.
willing to bet it was done in google translate as there are not spanish speakers working for the delaware government. |

Actually the explanation the superintendent gave is very believable.
There are other parks in the city that in Spanish and English state you need permission to play in them (they are inside schools) She figures someone who didn't speak Spanish just mixed the signs |

It's not about the poor grammar or the fact that English is the official language. It's discriminatory because the sign meant for English-speakers is telling them to be careful as they play, and the sign meant for Spanish-speakers is threatening them with police action if they don't have a permit. |

That's what happens when you get a person with high-school spanish to write your signs. The grammar's also wrong. It reads like one of those Engrish translations. |
