Some Asian countries will get the "select" produce because here in America where the food may be produced, we will not pay more than X amount/lb of lettuce, but in these countries they are willing to pay up to 10 times the amount, so higher quality is sometimes shipped over there. |

Not all cabbages grow to the same size. I suspect the ones most Westerners see are bred to feed nuclear families. It doesn't surprise me that in other countries with larger family structures cabbages would be bred to be larger. |
